Because at least Cluess has dominated his conference. He's won 20 games and made the NIT or NCAA tournament every year since his first at Iona.

I think (could be wrong) almost every coach who has coached at Iona has been successful. Maybe it is the school and the league.

Ok but he also was super successful at his D2 school and was a legendary high school coach who placed numerous kids into blue blood programs and the NBA. Mark Schmidt failed at RMU where every other coach has had some success too.

Cluess would be a lackluster hire as well but I would prefer him over Schmidt 100 out of 100 times. He is freaking John Wooden compared to Schmidt. A little exaggeration but not much.
