Looks to be 3000-4000 left by a quick look at the map. I got the email about buying discounted tickets as a Panther Club member but it seems like the cheapest discounted ticket is $43. I wonder what it is without the discount? I hope the new AD fixes these prices for next year. We are and forever will be a bubble program. We need to price our tickets accordingly. Cant price them like the Glory Days.

I think is pretty much shows that Pitt still has a long way to go to get the fans in the seats again.

Sure on this board Pitt finished strong and should have made the NCAA Tournament and it's great Lowe and Ish came back. But to the average causal fan all they see is 1 NCAA Tournament appearance in the Jeff Capel era. That's it.

So us diehards on the Lair want to go to games and are excited about the season but for most, Pitt hasn't really done anything to bring back the fans.

This season needs to be a put up or shut up for Jeff Capel. If the team misses another NCAA Tournament there needs to be some serious questions if Jeff Capel should still be the guy.

little less interesting now without Huggins...
They have to win these first 3 at home.

I think it’s more that TV is so much better and convenient, then going to games. Before, going was a better experience. But now crystal clear, you can record and not have to rush home, or you can literally watch anywhere.

My buddy, huge Pitt fan, is going to Dave Matthews and the Pitt Clemson game this weekend. It is a thing.
You aren’t a huge Pitt fan if you pick a concert over the Backyard Brawl. Mathews has been around for over 30 years and has played in and around Pittsburgh numerous times over that time.

You can buy season tickets for as low as $300 a ticket. That’s a bargain. I don’t understand why more people don’t just buy season tickets. It’s worth it if you just attend half the games.
A long way to go, but then Pitt is going to reseat all of us long time season ticket holders.

They dont advertise. There's 0 marketing. I was at the Pitt/UVa football game. Very nice crowd. You'd think they could do a feature during a timeout "hey fans, Friday Night is the Backyard Brawl. Get your tickets for as low as XXX. There are ticket representatives in the Great Hall tonight to take your order."

Listen, here's the deal. Pitt fans and casual Yinzer hoops fans arent going to ever fill The Pete again consistently unless we are a Top 10 team. Well, not at these prices. Pitt tickets should be dirt cheap until we can sell out of season tickets and then slowly raise it. For example, BC tickets, in a smaller arena are $150 for the season and $50 for youth. Maybe that's a little too low but this sounds about right:

Worst uppers: $200
Good uppers: $250
Worst lowers: $300

Total price with donation. The goal should be to price tickets so you sell 11,500 season tickets. Then next year, raise it by $25. The Pete is a morgue most of the year.

This game isnt on TV.

We are struggling to sell tickets to a rivalry. I doubt anyone is getting bumped from their seats due too high demand.

Anyone who kept their season tickets and continued to go to game through the Kevin Stalling Error should be exempted from being reseated against their wishes for 41 years. One year for every loss endured.

I'd be surprised if Greene kept that idea anyway. Ticket sales for basketball have been very bad during the last 2 NCAAT-caliber seasons and it doesn't appear that we've really sold very many more season tickets this year. I hope Greene makes does a major overhaul on basketball ticket pricing and marketing because there should be 11,500 basketball fans willing to pay to see a bubble-type program for a reasonable price. We cant wait until we are a perennial Top 5/10 program again for people to buy season tickets.

The volleyball game's a sellout

I was wondering why Pitt/WVU was at 8 instead of 7 since its not on TV so its not like the networks were doing like a 6PM/8PM doubleheader. This is a Heather special. She scheduled volleyball at 5 so not to conflict with basketball at 8. Pitt fans will use every excuse in the book not to attend. The fact that its a late start, even though on a Friday night, is keeping people away.

Yeah, it would have been way better if they just have both games starting at their normal 7:00 starting times. Then the 3,500 people coming in for the volleyball match and the overflow sellout crowd of 13,000 coming in for the basketball game (because we all know the basketball game starting at 8 instead of 7 is keeping thousands of people away  ) could have all been jamming the streets and the parking lots all at the same time.

If you stream it on your TV , it's on TV.

It's not on "cable", but it can be on TV.

Yea but the problem with that is nobody over age 50 is going to watch it and only diehard Pitt fans under age 50 will take the time to go through the 8 different steps to pull up the game on the ESPN app. So, inotherwords, 0 casual fans will watch

We are talking about Pitt fans here. The 8PM start is going to decrease attendance by about 1000, maybe 2000. Volleyball should not even be a consideration here. Basketball should start at 7. Volleyball at 4PM or 9:30. You dont push back a Basketball start time to accommodate volleyball. Heather went too far with this crap.

The notion that there would be anywhere close to 2,000 more people at the basketball game if it started at 7:00 instead of 8:00 is one of the most batshit crazy things you have ever posted. You've got at least one extra zero in there. And probably two.

It gives people that extra excuse. Tickets are really expensive. And now they wont be in bed by 10. I think we agree though that the game should be at 7 and then you can work volleyball around it.

I'm a Pitt basketball fan, so it doesn't make any difference to me whether the game starts at 7:00 or 8:00. I'll be there either way. In fact 8:00 might actually work out a little better for me on this particular Friday night.

However, people who use the fact that the game starts at 8 instead of 7 to stay home were never, ever going to the game anyway. If it wasn't that, it would be something else. Too cold. Too much traffic. Rather stay home and watch the Penguins. Have to get up early on Saturday for {insert random event here}. Don't like all electronic ticketing. Don't like those newfangled concession stands. Tickets cost too much. Want to sit in the front row but those tickets were already sold.

You name it, they would have used it. The game starting at 8 instead of 7 probably doesn't change actual attendance by even 100 people.

Actually, it means that some of the folks who go to the volleyball game will then head to the Pete for hoops. It may increase attendance.

Sometimes what you say actually makes sense.

Mom, dad, and their 2 volleyball playing daughters who bought $5 tickets will most assuredly NOT be spending $300 to watch the Pitt basketball game in person.

I have had season tickets for over 40 years. I have been reseated 3 times. Last time was 3 years ago when I checked the seats before the first was picked. There were over 2000 seats gone before anyone began to pick their seats. 200 sponsers/boosters took these 2000 seats. I lost my seats, but no one used those seats except for the big games.
