Possible reclass?

With no knowledge of the recruit, I'm a little skeptical because 1. He's not ranked and 2. The other power school looking at him, Virginia Tech, has felt the impact of a mass exodus. Young is desperate to fill-out VT's roster (somewhat reminiscent of Stallings in 2016). They recently signed another guy who also wasn't ranked (and didn't have any P5 Offers).

My thoughts exactly. And it's a little troubling we really aren't in on any grad transfers. I'd save the scholarship for 2020. I wonder if this is a bit of a panic move if we offer?

Still holding out hope for a Grad Transfer and then get the scholarship back for 2020. A shooter, a BIG, a back-up (but still play a good amount of minutes) guard.

The progress we might be making in grad transfers, that's the big question.
It looks like Capel has no problem looking for an experimental project.
I guess taking one guy like that is okay. You just don't want it to be a pattern.

We may end up with:

- no ACC-ready Big

- no developmental Big (Coulibaly at 6'8 is too small to be "developmental." If a guy cant contribute for 2-3 years, he better be at least 6'10 or 6'11

- no plug and play grad transfer

Pitt needs to find that immediate "BIG" starter. Hopefully that's Sy. If not, I hope they are looking pretty intently in the Grad Market. A developmental big, plus a starter, would be ideal.

Weren't you predicting around this time last year that we might not be able to field a full starting lineup and would have to recruit in the cafeteria for bodies? Chill-out, chicken little.

No, I didn't predict it. When we had 0 players, I said we may only have 5-6 scholarship players. That was a possibility not a prediction.

Please define "developmental". You say Coulibaly is too short to be developmental. Despite having two more years, you've said Brown was not developmental. Was Brown ever developmental? Can Coulibaly become developmental if he grows a couple inches?

Brown, at 6'10 is absolutely developmental and should have redshirted and played sparingly as a RS FR on a good team. However, developmental bugs rarely turn into viable players. In Brown I see limited jumping ability, bad feet, bad hands, and no ability at all to rebound out of his immediate area. So, I dont blame Stallings for taking him. He is a typical developmental big, but after watching him for 2 years, I dont see him developing into a viable starter. A backup at best.

As for Coulibaly, if you are 6'8, you are more of a PF and if you are that short, you better possess a skill that can be of immediate help. This country produces a mass supply of 6'8 basketball players. There is no room on the bench for 2-3 years for a 6'8 player. He better be able to play from go.

God bless the mediocre 6'8" freshmen basketball players of the world.
