The NCAA is attempting to try and settle three lawsuits currently pending. Notably, while a settlement would not eliminate collectives, it would provide schools with “economic incentives” to bring them inside the university. The proposed settlement would also include a new compensation model permitting schools to share as much as $22 million annually with athletes in a capped system.
I tend to think shifting the burden of paying athletes onto the schools in a capped system would be helpful to Pitt at the end of the day. I guess we'll see!
