Jonathan Nwankwo released from LOI but may have academic issues.

Paschal Chukwu transferring from Providence.

Chukwu would be a nice addition but not eligible immediately.

Noah Dickerson also got released from Fla. I don't know how much Pitt was in the mix for him originally but I believe he was offered.
I saw a tweet of interested teams (or maybe it was schools he was interested in) over the weekend, Pitt was not on the list.

Pitt had interest in Nwankwo before he committed to Minnesota. Chukwu will probably have a lot of interest from around the country. He was a top 75 kid in 2014, and he's a legit 7-footer, listed at 7'2".

He's listed (Chukwhu) at 7'2" but just 226. Must be thin as a rail. Yeah, would be interesting if he and Nix stood up side by side.

Averaged 10 MPG, 2.6 PPG and 2.4 RPG which is not great but he was just a freshman.

Dickerson is rated #51 overall by EPSN and it shows he indeed has an offer from us.

6'7" and 237 but.... he is a PF and we need Cs and guards.

Hmmmm.... the FSU site has him at 6'8" and 245... and a bit sluggish. So, if he came here Dixon could indeed play him at C.

In Big East play, he was up to about 12 minutes per game, and his scoring/rebounding were about the same. He blocked about a shot per game in those 12 minutes, and shot 78%. Providence was mostly guard/wing dominant though with Dunn and Henton, with the upfront time going to Desrosiers snd fellow freshman Bentil. I thought Chukwu should've been given more playing time, but Cooley's system has worked well for them the past few years. They have had Tyler Harris and now Chukwu transfer out this offseason though.

He's a really good center option, and the year off will help him get stronger. Everything about him screams UConn to me... just a typical UConn style center that develops into a very good player.

Pitt was one of six offers for Chukwu accprding to 247.com, also listed were Providence, UConn, NC State, St. Johns, & St. Joe's (though ESPN lists PC, BC, UConn, ND, & Texas). PC assistant that recruited him went to Alabama this offseason, that may have played a factor in his decision.

I don't that it is possible at this late date, but Pitt needs a guard. Both of the bigs named above are intriguing, as is Nelson-Odada and they are an upgrade at the position. I just think a better choice to upgrade the entire team would be in the backcourt, but those options are slimmer than Calista Flockhart.

Sounds like Kansas might be the early leader for Chukwu, Virginia has also reached out to him.

He's also a CT kid (as was Dunn) and losing him to Prov was considered a slap in the face. I think Ollie will take a look but as Momadou Diarra just committed for 2016, not sure if UConn can provide the playing time Chukwu would likely demand.
