-Get 1 or 2 of these guys, and the rebuild will happen a lot faster. Capel is arguably the best recruiter in the country. Finally, we will get the truth if Top end talent can be recruited to Pitt or not. Nothing would make me happier then to snag a 5 Star backcourt and punt the current roster

Cole Anthony- 5 Star Point Guard, Archbishop, NY

Bryan Antoine- 5 Star Shooting Guard, Tinton Falls, NJ

Scottie Lewis- 5 Star Shooting Guard, Hazlet, NJ

Isaiah Stewart- 5 Star Center, Rochester, NY

Joe Girard- 4 Star Shooting Guard, Glen Falls, NY

Aiden Ighiehon- 4 Star Center, Woodmere, NY

Cofi Cockburn- 4 Star Center, Christ the King, NY

But wait everyone says we can't recruit NY and NJ anymore because we don't play in the BE anymore and the style won't cut it. BS if you can get those guys you teach them how to play in the ACC and compete I hated hearing that NY and NJ were no longer viable options for us that is crap you get the best kids you can in here and teach them

It would be great to get 4 and 5 star guys with a few weeks left in the signing period. But I doubt we can move that quickly. The good (bad?) news is that most 3 star players will upgrade our roster, so we don't need to land multiple 5 stars to improve.

-And that was a bunch of bullshit. I guarantee Capel goes right into the heart of NY / NJ to recruit. I wouldnt be surprised if we bring in an ace recruiter from that territory. Every player I mentioned above was recruited by Capel.

-These are all 2019 players that I posted. The only 2018 guy Capel recruited that is left on the board is a 5 star Power Forward from Georgia. It was supposed to come down to Duke / KY with Capel the lead recruiter.

are those 2019 guys or uncommitted 2018 guys ?

Got it. There's enough time on the clock for us to work on 2019 guys. Obviously it's a big lift to get a 5 star to commit, I don't think we've had one since Adams, but it's not out of the question.

Has been said Capel won’t be recruiting guys he did for 19 class. This isn’t going hurt that much as the one and done is over after the 19 class

Top end talent or misevaluated top end talent?

Uh, well Blair was first team AA and Adams was a lottery pick if I recall correctly, so if you want to judge by recruiting ranking or by college production, I'd say we have it covered either way. For the record, I think it's flat-out wrong to rate recruiting ability by something other than the recruits' rating when signed.

I would think the best indicator would be the caliber of the other schools recruiting the player. Who did you beat out.

50%.

Birch ended up being a player and Taylor did not.
I don't think Birch averaged over 10 points or 10 rebounds in college. Over rated for a 5 star player according to some services.

Averaged a double double his final year and was his leagues Defensive Player of the Year twice.

Also is currently in the NBA and has played a decent amount for the Heat this season.

I guess. Just think he was an average player in a lesser league in college. I don't think he lived up to the hype in college. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have him on our current team.

According to 247 Sports, we beat out:

Blair: Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, Florida, among other power conference programs.
Birch: Arizona, UCONN, Florida, Texas, Ohio State, West Virginia and more
Taylor: UCONN, Maryland, West Virginia

Beat out high major programs for these guys. Adams was the highest rated of any of them, but we didn't recruit against anyone for him.

Also, Birch averaged more than 10 points and more than 10 rebounds per game in his final year at UNLV.

Some more....

Precious Achiewa 5 star 6'9" PF St Benedicts NJ Who Pitt was involved with prior to Capel (Can't imagine Capel would hurt)
Alonzo Gaffney 5 star 6'8" SF Garfield Heights, Cleveland OH
Oscar Tshiebwe 4 star 6'9" C Kennedy Christian Sharon, PA
Lester Quinones 4 star 6'5" SG St Benedicts NJ
Tre Mitchell 4 star 6'9" PF Woodstock Academy VT (I think he is from Western PA)

And of course 7'0 Brandon Stone who is a 3 star, but I think is rising and is a stretch 4.

Blair was obviously had the best college career. Birch had an OK career in a lesser conference. He had a good year but I would argue he did not live up to the hype of his ratings. Pitt had more success with three and four star players rank around 75-150 who played out their eligibility. It will be curious to see how well Capel recruits at Pitt and the recruit he targets. I agree that Pitt has gotten some McDonald All-Americans in the past but not many. Hopefully Capel can have solid classes and mix in a blue chipper every so often. Pitt has been a high seed in the past, no reason why we can't get back to that level.

Regardless, one of the most disappointing things, and one that led to so much hopelessness is the Rivals top 150 lists without Pitt being hardly involved with any. I stopped really following BB recruiting a few years ago, that is why when guys like the Duke class and Drayton at Arizona, I had no idea who they were until they started playing college ball.

Being a Pitt fan the last few years, and this spanned Jamie's last year or 2, it is like we might as well been Hofstra when it came to top talent being interested.

Yeah, I was just pointing out that Pitt can and has recruited at least a couple top-end players.
