Pretty interesting comments by the Author and uses some questions that were not easily answered. He does an analysis from what has been reported in the Media and compares recruiting Stars & Talent. He is less optimistic for 2017 versus myself but he explains it better and why and I salute such discussions based on backing up his views. Lots of questions still unanswered and brings up Instability in the Athletic department that is without a doubt accurate right now until Heather steps in soon?

Posters on the Lair can weigh in to share and learn what they think too? I have no clue!

Did Reed have EJ's baby yet?
I do not know anything about him, except he cares about Pitt Sports and that shows in his Blog. If you can shine more light or share to agree or disagree with his comments, I would appreciate it. He cites others reporting and why he is concern about certain aspects on Pitt FB & BB and instability in Athletic Departments as well portends concerns for 2017 Season.

Again, as stated above I have no clue so appreciate any info at all fro others that have views too. Thanks to all or anyone in advance.

Reed is 100% on target regarding the Barnes-Stallings fiasco. I am not so sure he is correct on the OL issue because I think Narduzzi is excellent at finding 3 stars with 4-5 star potential and because the 3-star OL have the requisite physical measurables.

Good point!
O'Neil proves it, he was a 3 Star Recruit so was Orndoff, Johnson was 5 Stars, Biz 4 Stars! No question Coach Pat & Staff coach up his Players and all 3 units too. Defense is still a big work in progress. Special Teams have been beyond Special unlike under Chryst. Offense is just as good if not better!

Once again, yes Barnes was a disaster, but you cannot absolve the university leadership! The basketball program was nearly at the top only 6-7 years ago and suddenly, mysteriously, drastically plummeted, and then of course the whole HC situation (the pushing out of Dixon as well as the Stallings hire) was an utter fiasco. That doesn't stop with the AD. This isn't deciding the supplier of loose-leaf binders for the bookstore. The chancellors and trustees, current and previous, either had a major (final) say OR were completely derelict in their duties. The basketball program (particularly being so successsful and high profile as it was) and its HC position are among the top 3 to 5 entities of the university (like it or not, and it Pitt leadership doesn't, they should drop major sports).

Pitt Athletic Department Leadership has been a work in progress since 1982 when Bozo Bozik took over until he was fired, then a series of mediocre lack of vision from the Chancellorship Office Lack of Vision until Nordenberg took over and return Pitt FB & BB back to winning again.

The after effects of Athletic Director Pederson's Poison Second Tenure and Buyout still is in the Pitt System that even Barnes decided he couldn't handle and Jamie just wanted out, and now up to Heather Lyke Vice to stay and fix with Pat Narduzzi.

Stallings is on "Stall Control" until he can prove he is the exemplary X's & O's his old Boss Todd Turner sold to Barnes his Old Boss, is a great fit for Pitt????

In the meantime, Pitt in ACC Football must come First and Foremost with Chancellor Gallagher's Foresight Vision and Coach Narduzzi's Foretaste of Coaching Stability, and all supported by Athletic Director Lyke Vice support but without Pederson's Poison Buyouts and Barnes Misjudgements Consultant's Buyouts to help themselves more than helping Pitt!

The Pitt Athletic Department Team is in place again but still have to perform together for Pitt, Narduzzi is proving it, Stallings on Deck, and Heather just beginning, as Chancellor Gallagher Vision is still not in place until those 3 above perform together.

IF Barnes stayed long term here, we would feel better. With that said, Narduzzi is the key to our athletic program. We have to understand he is our leader . Coaches are the stars. Basketball is not coming back soon. We have a star. Forget if he only wins 7 or 8 games now. Move 2 million a year over to Duzz . NOW

I can tell the Lair my experience in helping a Former Pitt Player & Golden Panther to help his son get into the Coast Guard Academy to play USCGA Bears Football, and it was just as tough getting into Army, Navy, or Air Force Academies (And That Is Saying Something) back in the 1990s. Recently, the Academies approved their Players that make the NFL can be Reserve Officer now.

USCGA Recruits don't need Congressional Approval but they are very selective whom they take and not all graduate after their years there. They play NCAA D-III but they are in great shape and are very special people is all I can say.

I learned quite a bit and the Coast Guard is not just Guarding and Patrolling American Coast Lines, they have Brave Men and Women Graduates all of the World protecting many US Interests and in the Middle East too.

They live up to their Motto "Scientiæ Cedit Mare" - "The Sea yields To Knowledge"!

And the USCGA Honor Code it is not a Public Football Marketing Slogan on Honor they live it too....."Who Lives Here Reveres Honor, Honors Duty!"

Perhaps Reed can share more about that on the Lair and knows far more?
