Prediction Thread

I think it could be ugly. Fede will come off the bench if needed. Pitt 75 Miss 55. Frankly because SEC as a whole is bad offensively, inflating their defensive numbers. OOC aside from Marquette win was weak. Pitt due for a good 3 point night.

Fearing about a 10-15 point defeat is in the works. I feel the clock struck midnight on this team after the Cuse game and everyone (including the fans) are just ‘happy to be there’ since then.

I hope they were shaken by the last two weeks and nearly getting bounced from the entire tournament (because they were), and newly determined to play their asses off, play together, with chips on their shoulders. That’s the attitude that got them to the Syracuse game, but then they seemed to lose that. I hope it’ll be back tonight. I don’t anticipate it though.

I don't have a good feeling about this game if Fede doesn't play or plays little. If he plays more than a few minutes, we'll need to score more than 75 to win. So I'm saying he plays at least some minutes and we win 75 - 72.

Yeah, we just haven't been very good at all defensively. No one can argue that for the last 4 or 5 games. That means if we want to win tonight, we'll probably need to score more than 75 and possibly 80 to have a chance. I don't know if MSU is capable of keeping up in that case. It will be close.

While all teams play different styles and hard to judge efficiencies, Pitt had a higher FT percentage than any SEC team. Could be a difference maker.

We play like Jan and Feb ( which weren’t great defensive efforts either by any means BUT we would tighten things up effectively in the last couple minutes of games) I think we’re win handily. But I don’t know that they can get back to that level.

That’s probably about the most flawed and flimsy analysis of this matchup someone could possibly come up with.

That said I hope that baseless final score prediction comes true.

I’m worried about how athletic they are on the defensive end and rebounding at both ends. I think they’re going to be very tough. It’s a weird matchup. I don’t love it.
Can't say that I like the matchup based on the descriptions of MSU that I've read about, especially if Fede is hobbled. MSU is one of the few times that I haven't watched live this year, so I don't have much of an opinion on them other than the SEC didn't really impress me.

I think it's fair to say that we'll likely sink or swim against two really good defensive teams in MSU and ISU based on our outside shooting and ability to clamp down in the paint to even an average degree on defense.

Now that sure wasn’t a good sign. They just showed a team mascot and other people walking along a ramp into or out of the arena. On the wall we’re signs of each of the 4 teams playing tonight.

You can’t make this up, as the mascot is walking along, the Script Pitt sign falls off the wall and breaks in two. Talk about a bad omen.

MSU's rebounding and defense worries me a lot. If they keep this as a low scoring game in the 50's or 60's, as they like to do, I'm afraid we'll lose that one. We have to pick up the tempo and get up on them early and often. Get a big lead going into the half and keep it there. MSU is not a team built for comebacks.

They’re better coached and will pack it in and slow it down.
Pitt banged up, tired.

Yes, the MSU coaching advantage in addition to the rebounding and defensive advantages are concerning. I still hope we can pour it on in the first half and maintain it into the second half to squeak out a win.

I’ve got zero vibes or insights here

Although I don’t think being “tired” makes a hell of a lot of sense. Most teams I imagine are tired.
