Alright so let's hear everyone's thoughts and predictions on the game.
WVU is back to being a 1 point favorite and I continue to see just about all articles/writer picking WVU, which is a little surprising to me being it's a coin flip game.
Most of this week I sort of thought they would lose, but as it gets closer I feel like they may pull this out.
Narduzzi is generally very very good at rallying the troops and he knows if they lose this game, things could go really South and in a hurry.
WVU is going to try to run the ball alot and take deep shots here or there. They will move the ball some and connect on those deep shots once or twice. Their OL is very good, their RBs are very good and based on the season so far their QB is probably better than ours. However, I think the coaches and players will be ready defensively. I think they play more in-line with the 2nd half of the Cincinnati game than the 1st half.
Offensively is what really worries me. I just don't think Jurkovec is that good, but he is certainly better than 10/32. Our OL has been really really bad too, and WVUs DL is good. Jurkovec has been pressured on about 45% of his dropbacks this year, which is just awful. Saying all that, again, the coaches and players know this is as close to a must win as a non-conference can be. I think we try to run the ball, and we are able to with some success which then will allow Jurk to be a little more comfortable back there and use play action effectively. I think Jurkovec knows if he doesn't play well it's going to be close to it for him. I think he plays well enough and the offense looks better than it did last week (I know, I know, that's not saying much!) and resemble a solid offense. WVUs secondary and LBs aren't good (other than Kpogba at LB) and I think we are able to exploit that. Mumfield amd Bart will have good nights and even Bub Means will catch a pass! Hammond will have a solid night too.
I think it's close but Pitt does just enough and wins 27-20
