Preseason Accolades are Racking Up for Dorian Johnson

Hopefully the entire line stays healthy, but I really want to see Biz and DoJo have terrific senior seasons and help Pitt win more games than expected.

Should be the best line here since the late 80s. Lots of talent and quality depth. Keep fingers crossed for health.

Gotta give credit where it's due. Johnson, Biz, Officer , Jones, Bookser, and even O'Neil (originally a TE) were all linemen recruited by Chryst and Rudolph . Both of these coaches had a well regarded reputation with O Linemen previously at Wisconsin. They continued that success here at Pitt, and we now have a highly regarded O Line due to their successful recruiting.
Since their departure we haven't seen the high level (Johnson, Biz, Bookser=4/5 stars). I'm not
saying the guys coming in now aren't going to be good, but there is a difference. Obviously Narduzzi
is noted for Defense and especially DBacks (his successful D recruiting speaks for itself). I'd like to
see us land a few O lineman of the level of Biz and Johnson. Obviously I like what Narduzzi is doing overall as head coach, but IMO...it all starts up front.

They missed on a lot of OL talent too. Grimm comes to mind. Dintino bumped over from DT and is behind Officer. OL is a tricky business. Have to learn to play the position correctly.

Are you sure they missed on Grimm, who is only going to be a redshirt sophomore?

are you seriously expecting a 100% hit rate? pc has his flaws for sure, but the ol is not one of them.

with grimm, he has a lot of work to do.

No I don't. If every four star was going to be a stud, Travon Chapman would be starting at QB this year.

Poster suggested four and five stars were needed. I was simply pointing out that there's a couple of three's ahead of him. Pointing out he needs a lot of work sort of makes my point.

Poster did not suggest "four and stars were needed." The thrust of the post was that PC and Rudolph recruited VERY high level OL and that wasn't the case now. The O Line which is considered one of the ACC's best, and by some reports considered the BEST this year was recruited by PC and Rudolph. Post also pointed out that
those coming in now weren't not good... but not the high level PC and Rudolph recruited. When you recruit the level of Biz, Johnson, Officer, Bookser, Jones, and O'neil you can safely assume the ones behind them might not be as high level. BTW, I wouldn't call Grimm a miss given the quality of the guys ahead of him. As far as
Herndon and Ditino passing him on the depth chart, that even further establishes PC and Rudolph's Oline
recruiting in that they recruited ALL of these guys.

You're losing me when you throwing out names of guys who are good now but were three stars when the last staff brought them in. It's like the three stars coming in now are disappointing?

Would like to point out that these guys are shining under the new staff so maybe coaching is important too.

Him and Biz are both getting accolades. I think Conner will be big this year as well
