PJ was killing it the first three weeks. This should quiet the fans not wanting jurk to start.
Lol. Killing what. Any chance of winning?PJ was killing it the first three weeks.
Yeah… I don’t understand the playing calling with him. Chuck it deep every play but like Jurkovec throw only 3 yard passesFor knowing his QB situation and not bringing in CV the last two games.
Yeah true Narduzzi really has nothing to do with it. Although I imagine he coulda pulled Jurk last weekI’d blame Cignetti more than Narduzzi, his offense absolutely sucks and is completely outdated. But Narduzzi did bring him to Pitt so….
Yes he hired Frank Flintstone so he is to blame.I’d blame Cignetti more than Narduzzi, his offense absolutely sucks and is completely outdated. But Narduzzi did bring him to Pitt so….
People need to quit blaming the symptoms and start blaming the disease. This is Narduzzi’s program. The buck starts and ends with the head coach in every program. He hired the assistants. These players on this roster are his players. To the extent any of that is lacking, it’s on Dooz. Don’t blame Cignetti, all he did was accept the job offer that Dooz extended to him. It’s not like his mediocre body of work wasn’t out there to be reviewed.I’d blame Cignetti more than Narduzzi, his offense absolutely sucks and is completely outdated. Agree!!! Narduzzi owes Patridge $$$ tooPeople need to quit blaming the symptoms and start blaming the disease. This is Narduzzi’s program. They still aren't getting paid, they instead are closer to being treated the same as every other student that's on some type of financial aid. When the University starts cutting checks from their TV and gate revenue, then they are getting paid.Narduzzi and all of the coaches had everything to do with how unprepared and undisciplined their team was. That's why they were getting so many dumb penalties. Unacceptable for professionals to be getting so many dumb penalties. If they don't like being called professionals, tough s%$t. Unless they want to give back all of the money they were given to play.
This is what NIL has created now. You get paid, you better win. If you don't win, you get your scholarship pulled.

Yeah lol. That'll show people hahah. Prove you have ZERO idea how to recruit qbsThis should quiet the fans not wanting jurk to start.
Whoa. You are immensely wrongThey still aren't getting paid, they instead are closer to being treated the same as every other student that's on some type of financial aid. When the University starts cutting checks from their TV and gate revenue, then they are getting paid.
First off....they were getting paid the moment they accepted a scholarship. That has always been true. Now add the nil deal in.......they are making more than the average adult in this country. That's a fact. But I have to ask....where did you get the information that you posted? Again I can prove mine. These kids are making more than you think. My kids are in college and will have to pay loans. So I know the difference. These kids are definitely pros. Once you accept a scholarship.....you are a proWhoa. You are immensely wrong
Thanks for telling me, I gotta go update my LinkedIn page to include professional academic because I got scholarships to attend Pitt for 4 years. Researcher? ohh wait, I took a few psych classes so I should put psychologist.First off....they were getting paid the moment they accepted a scholarship. That has always been true. Props for inexplicably having Phil run the ball in the minutes of the half and getting him injured , forcing a qb changeFor knowing his QB situation and not bringing in CV the last two games.
Scholarships are not being paidFirst off....they were getting paid the moment they accepted a scholarship. That has always been true. No, you are being sillyWhoa. You are immensely wrong
That’s the most concerning part. Fans in other threads are excusing this away as a rebuilding year. You don’t rebuild in college football, you reload. Narduzzi’s poor recruiting is coming back to bite him.Ninth season and the cupboard is as bare as ever.
Regardless whether the value of the scholarship is considered income by the IRS, and regardless whether they are getting a W2 from the school as employees, scholarship college athletes are getting an IMMENSE benefit. At Pitt, for out-of-state kids, it's worth over $140k for 4 years. At some schools, the price to get an undergraduate college degree is over $250k. They are being paid. Maybe not as employees, but they are receiving a huge financial benefit. No, you are being silly
One basic question -
Will they have to file their scholarships for taxes and pay FICA?
No?
The. They aren’t being paid .
Same way academic scholarship kids aren’t being paid .
It’s an idiotic premise
For heavens sakes, school means nothing to any of these guys save for the walk ons and fourth stringers. The rest are there solely for football. Jurkovec is in, what, his 7th year? They put him on some list for some grad program that he doesn’t even know he’s signed up for. Likely in an apartment on Mt W or Lawrenceville. The guy likely has barely ever stepped foot on Pitt campus and certainly not in any academic building. He staggered in here after failing at two other college programs. He’s no Pitt student and certainly not getting any value from a “scholarship”. Luckily he isn’t taking space from a legitimate student, but that just further makes the point.Regardless whether the value of the scholarship is considered income by the IRS, and regardless whether they are getting a W2 from the school as employees, scholarship college athletes are getting an IMMENSE benefit. Too broad a statement, but certainly applicable in very many cases. For heavens sakes, school means nothing to any of these guys save for the walk ons and fourth stringers. And this is more or less true for the top three levels of the depth chart, at any major college football program (and ours 😁) though some may actually need to stay in the athletics dorm (really an apartment building not accessible to actual students). ‘School’ in the term most are familiar with has never meant less to football and men’s basketball than ever before, which is saying something given its always been kind of this way.
So just forget this notion that any players that the ‘scholarship’ is any kind of meaningful compensation
And you certainly need those guys. The fourth string and walkon players, the ditch diggers, the pluggers, the sacrificial lambs in practice, the “ good guys to have in the locker room” types. I salute them. They are working hard on the program and still studying and going to class and likely not scoring with any of the hotties “but I really AM on the football team”. Though that claim likely isn’t getting too much play with the ladies this year…Too broad a statement, but certainly applicable in very many cases.
Really, though, there are plenty of athletes at every school (including yours) that are very good students pursuing a wide range of degrees.
As for Jurk, perhaps he better get cracking ASAP on earning a degree.
