Props to Duzz

The truth is this team isn't built to come from behind. I'm not sure Phil would have done much better with us having to abandon the run. Our defense got shredded. I thought there played decent in the first half but still gave up 28! All the false starts and other penalties 😵‍💫 💩 performance by many players. But......this should still be our first loss.

I’d blame Cignetti more than Narduzzi, his offense absolutely sucks and is completely outdated. But Narduzzi did bring him to Pitt so….
Yeah true Narduzzi really has nothing to do with it. Although I imagine he coulda pulled Jurk last week

Narduzzi and all of the coaches had everything to do with how unprepared and undisciplined their team was. That's why they were getting so many dumb penalties. Unacceptable for professionals to be getting so many dumb penalties. If they don't like being called professionals, tough s%$t. Unless they want to give back all of the money they were given to play.

This is what NIL has created now. You get paid, you better win. If you don't win, you get your scholarship pulled.

People need to quit blaming the symptoms and start blaming the disease. This is Narduzzi’s program. The buck starts and ends with the head coach in every program. He hired the assistants. These players on this roster are his players. To the extent any of that is lacking, it’s on Dooz. Don’t blame Cignetti, all he did was accept the job offer that Dooz extended to him. It’s not like his mediocre body of work wasn’t out there to be reviewed.

Agree!!! Narduzzi owes Patridge $$$ too

They still aren't getting paid, they instead are closer to being treated the same as every other student that's on some type of financial aid. When the University starts cutting checks from their TV and gate revenue, then they are getting paid.

My thoughts...talent just isn't there and it begins with recruiting. When he was first hired, Narduzzi seemed more relentless. Hamlin, Ford, coming close to flipping Sanders. Now it seems he is just going through the motions. Losing legacies from Pitt friendly schools like PCC. Looks like probably losing a Quip too next week, which used to be unheard of. Not closing on several QB prospects the past few seasons and then signing Duggar who has no other P5 offers. Scary when Salem is one of your better recruiters. It's a shame the coach who brought in Addison (Carter I think) was only here a short time, he seemed like the best of the lot.

If the season falls of the rails, there needs to be a come to Jesus meeting with Heather about the staff makeup. Similar to the one Brian Kelly did after finishing with just 4 wins that one season and making a major staff over haul. Still not giving up and I can't believe this will be less than a 5 win season. But if it is, some things have to change.

Narduzzi doesn't have to listen to one damn word Heather Lyke has to say to him.

He suckered her in to giving him an extension through 2030. He doesn't have to do anything other than tell her to get bent and collect his money through being a mediocre coach for seven more years or getting bought out.

I root for phil but he is insanely bad. He can't throw a 30 yard spiral. That has been proven. I'm happy he played pretty good tonight but he is awful. That has nothing to do with the backup. They both stink. I don't think anyone with a brain would say this qb situation is good. Phil is a decent qb with a TERRIBLE arm. No arm strength at all. Let's see what's behind him. Season is over and so is Phil's career. He turned down pitt twice. Take a seat phil.

Whoa. You are immensely wrong
First off....they were getting paid the moment they accepted a scholarship. That has always been true. Now add the nil deal in.......they are making more than the average adult in this country. That's a fact. But I have to ask....where did you get the information that you posted? Again I can prove mine. These kids are making more than you think. My kids are in college and will have to pay loans. So I know the difference. These kids are definitely pros. Once you accept a scholarship.....you are a pro

Scholarships are not being paid
Because they aren’t employees
You’ve bought a lie

No, you are being silly
One basic question -
Will they have to file their scholarships for taxes and pay FICA?
No?
The. They aren’t being paid .
Same way academic scholarship kids aren’t being paid .
It’s an idiotic premise

Regardless whether the value of the scholarship is considered income by the IRS, and regardless whether they are getting a W2 from the school as employees, scholarship college athletes are getting an IMMENSE benefit. At Pitt, for out-of-state kids, it's worth over $140k for 4 years. At some schools, the price to get an undergraduate college degree is over $250k. They are being paid. Maybe not as employees, but they are receiving a huge financial benefit.

For heavens sakes, school means nothing to any of these guys save for the walk ons and fourth stringers. The rest are there solely for football. Jurkovec is in, what, his 7th year? They put him on some list for some grad program that he doesn’t even know he’s signed up for. Likely in an apartment on Mt W or Lawrenceville. The guy likely has barely ever stepped foot on Pitt campus and certainly not in any academic building. He staggered in here after failing at two other college programs. He’s no Pitt student and certainly not getting any value from a “scholarship”. Luckily he isn’t taking space from a legitimate student, but that just further makes the point.

And this is more or less true for the top three levels of the depth chart, at any major college football program (and ours 😁) though some may actually need to stay in the athletics dorm (really an apartment building not accessible to actual students). ‘School’ in the term most are familiar with has never meant less to football and men’s basketball than ever before, which is saying something given its always been kind of this way.

So just forget this notion that any players that the ‘scholarship’ is any kind of meaningful compensation

Too broad a statement, but certainly applicable in very many cases.

Really, though, there are plenty of athletes at every school (including yours ) that are very good students pursuing a wide range of degrees.

As for Jurk, perhaps he better get cracking ASAP on earning a degree.

And you certainly need those guys. The fourth string and walkon players, the ditch diggers, the pluggers, the sacrificial lambs in practice, the “ good guys to have in the locker room” types. I salute them. They are working hard on the program and still studying and going to class and likely not scoring with any of the hotties “but I really AM on the football team”. Though that claim likely isn’t getting too much play with the ladies this year…
