It's okay to admit you were duped by effective marketing.

"Success with honor" "The Grand Experiment" "Happy Valley" - All marketing slogans. None of it was ever real, but the packaging made you believe it was. That's the hallmark of effective marketing.

Not really
I believe those were "verified" by Sports illustrated or some other outside source commissioned by the Pitt athletic department. All your "slogans" were self manufactured marketing quips with no historical reference or - sadly and pathetically - no factual basis.

Glad to see the rapid response.
Hope you're enjoying all the posts on this board and especially all the links.

You mean sort of like "11 National Championships"?

You are trying to equivocate that disaster in State College with how many National titles we are claiming? Really? And we only claim 9. You guys can't even attempt to insult us correctly. Really, you have to question the overall quality of education at Penn State.

You signed-in under a different handle to post that?

At least you're consistent: you're as accurate with your facts as the rest of the Joebots are with theirs.

We claim 9 dipstick

At least get your facts straight for your hilarious zinger.

11 is how many are listed in the official NCAA Records Book. If we counted them the same as some other schools, we would claim 11 (or perhaps up to 17). Pitt is correctly more conservative and consistent. 9 is also the independent recognized count of College Football Data Warehouse, although our count is famously based on a 1970 Sports Illustrated list.

How do you respond if I answer yes to your question? Does that help you acknowledge Joe Paterno turned an eye from responding effectively to blatant and credible child rape allegations.

Those marketing slogans attracted a lot of people who were desperate to experience pride and dignity over something...anything...

My personal favorites were the half-wits who would always proudly state Paterno makes his kids behave and go to class. **Uh bro, you yourself failed out, you haven't picked up a book in 10 yrs, and you're about to drive home drunk.**

There was a radio show guy in State College once who was claiming PSU was the only school that never, ever cheats, save maybe the service academies. I called and told him of my recruiting experience and how every school broke at least a couple of small rules during each of my visits. Even the service academies.

Told me I was a liar. LOL

Sadly, the marketing nonsense hasn't changed up there with "unrivaled."

Punking out on your rivals doesn't mean you're unrivaled.

Easily my favorite manufactured Penn State mantra... NO TALENT REQUIRED

A marketing degree from Dear Ole State ain't what it used to be I suppose.
