The bread and butter of PSU's offense is rushing since a) they have a great RB, b) their QB is a much better runner than passer, and c) their new OC runs a lot of read-option plays.
Against Kent State, PSU's rushing attack was basically just RB Barkley (22 for 105, 4.8 yds/carry, 1 TD) and QB McSorely (14 for 47, 3.4 yds/carry, 0 TD). Barkley had 7 runs over 4 yards, with the longest 2 going 10+: 28 yds and 14 yds. McSorely's long was for 9 yds.
Against Pitt, Villanova's only RB of significance gained 37 yds on 13 carries (2.8 yds/carry), and the QB ran numerous times out of desperation, including a 24 yarder than ended up being nullified by numerous sacks and other tackles for a loss as he ended up with 2 yards on 13 carries.
