I think he means the Butler game.Hmmm ... we WERE a #1 seed two years after that.

Lol I don’t believe that. That woild be funny though since he’d hire his son to reboot his career and we’d get another family hireBc HL speaking to him actively
I guess he thinks maybe us idiots on a message board will jinx it or some such thing.Very confused but i complied? He’s a great coach

Hell yes. One of the best X and O coaches in basketball and knows how to build a staff that recruits to shoot.Delete delete

NJIT or Bobby Mo for BK this off-season or it’ll never happen for him
Yeah he needs to be a HCAs HC? Yea long time assistant i wouldn't mind seeing him as first chair here then see if he can take over in 5 years
Also that belien contract is long so
Yeah he needs to be a HC
Only need Tepper. So who are the 2 or 3 big Pitt boosters who are going to go to the administration and make this happen?
30 years? What are you talking about? It's not a loser mentality. It is 30 years of watching the relatively same story over and over again - it just isn't going to change. Some nice seasons will emerge now and then, but little else. It is a reality attitude.
Wrong! Buzz Ridl, Roy Chipman, and Paul Evans were all good basketball coaches. Ridl lead a putrid program to the 22 straight wins and elite eight in 73-74 and took over bball supremacy in the city at a time when Duquesne bball was more popular than the Steelers. Chipman lead Pitt to 2 ECA and 2 A 10 championships. At least 2 were played at a raucous, sold out civic arena on Friday and Saturday nights. The 2 day/4 team tournaments usually featured Pitt, Duquesne, WVU, Nova, or Rutgers. And Paul Evans lead Pitt to 5 NCAA appearances. He stepped in to what was widely regarded as a talented but undisciplined group, (Smith, Lane, Gore, Aiken etc), and turned them into a winning team and turned Smith and Lane into first round NBA picks. So we have had good coaches at times when there was very little commitment to bball and our facilities were among the worst. No one will watch if Capel is back next season, so pull the plug and start fresh so there is hope.
Big problem with that: minus Sonny delivering Howland, who brought Dixon, Pitt has never hired a very good basketball coach in its existence.

Ridl hated to recruit, Chipman and Timmy G quit preamturely. Evans underachieved. All average hires.Wrong! Buzz Ridl, Roy Chipman, and Paul Evans were all good basketball coaches. It’s only Wednesday.. wait oh which Friday? Last or two weeks ago?Maybe the team still hasn't found their legs from that spirited practice Friday?
We made the NCAA tournament 13 times from 2002 to 2016. It wasn’t all that long ago that we won a lot of games.Ridl hated to recruit, Chipman and Timmy G quit preamturely. Evans underachieved. All average hires.
Commitment, facilities . . no wonder the history of the program is so uninspiring.
Please put us out of our misery. Putrid. Pittiful. There is NO reason to keep Capel.

Anyone who thinks running this same team back and adding a grad transfer or two is going to magically turn this into a good team next year is greatly mistaken — or drinking the Capel family kool-aid.
No one will watch if Capel is back next season, so pull the plug and start fresh so there is hope.

More than a sniff - H2P!Haha. The Beilein post was deleted but honest to goodness I’d been wondering if they might take a sniff around him.
Does anybody else find it strange that after a decade of garbage, when the Deacs finally have a decent team worth watching, they are still playing in front of smallish crowds on most nights?
I like Forbes, but I think a big part of Wake's success speaks volumes as to how weak the league is this year.
He and everybody else had a Covid yearYou people don't get it. You really think Heather is going to fundraise for an enormous buyout to cover her own mistake to hire a MM coach who no one ever heard of and no one will buy tickets for when the coach she gave a massive extension to only loses 1 player of note. And please dont say for the 19th time that more guys will transfer. If they do, the point is moot because Capel will be gone then. Right now he says "you gave me an extension. I had a Covid year and were down 2 guys this year. I finally have a full team next year and have 5 years left on my contract.

Please stop talking. He’s done. It’s not a negative for HL to fire him. It’s a negative if she doesn’t/can’t
Not a negative? Her horrific mistake will cost $12 million and I am sorry but I don't believe Pitt has the boosters to cover anywhere close to that in this day and age. Their focus has to be on buying players.
Yeah but if TO Hugley comes back we’ll have the 6th best big in the ACC! God did you whiff on that AA callNot a negative?
