I have been really down on this team since the Cuse game. I try to be a glass half full guy, but was having a difficult time with this team. However, after a talk with an old buddy, I found a half full glass and I am ready to rally behind the boys in blue and gold.

First off, this team (especially the defense) has improved dramatically since the beginning of the year. That defense is young and should continue to grow into one of the better Ds in the ACC over the next couple of years. The offense is a work in progress. Better play out of the line and Hall gives some encouragement.

My buddy reminded me of being a Pitt fan in the 90s. We can remember truly dark days. During that decade, Pitt had a winning record once (1991, 6-5). They averaged 3.4 wins per season and had 1 bowl appearance (Liberty in 97 with a 6-6 record).

Here we now sit 4-5, with 3 games remaining, a shot at bowl eligibility, and with the 12th longest bowl appearance streak in D1 football. That gets me excited. We have a very winnable game Thursday that should put us at 5-5 and then we have to knock off one of 2 ranked teams to avoid our first losing regular season in 10 years and get us our bowl (even if it is meager).

This is attainable and the glass is back to being half full, just as it should be.
