It seems strange that we have not gotten any real feed back regarding the QB situation. Other than Watson comments yesterday, we have not really gotten any serious information about QB play. Almost feels like the staff wants to keep the development of Browne under wraps. Could it be that PN wants opponents to think Pitt is struggling with the QB position and thus not naming a starter so far. If they continue to downplay Browne's efforts and keep the belief that Ben is actually pushing for the starting job, maybe it keeps PSU and OKst a bit off guard.
Here's to hoping that Browne is really ready to step in and make this significant position one of our strengths . We need Max to show the NFL he is the real deal and earn a high draft spot at end of this season. Could this all be part of huge game of deflection and is PN playing his cards real close to the vest? I can hope can't I??????

Watson just said in a video that Browne and DiNucci are playing at a high level, wit Browne getting most of the snaps

A QB could be playing like Dan Marino in his prime in camp and the coaches aren't going to tell anyone that.

Doesn't this seem more like the Voytik/Peterman situation where you didn't get very many positive leaks about CV's play in the spring/fall only to see their time split and then eventually the "backup" who was the better qb took over full-time?

I hope not, as I had high hopes for Browne, but I've been a DiNucci fan of his since his Junion year at PR....so I would love to see him get his shot.

We are going to be hurting at this Poston this year , if one of those two don't REALLY separate themselves. There is a reason the transfer didn't see the field except 4 games in his entire career. DNOOTCH has a much better ball , but he is just not there yet either.

We got 2 more weeks and a tune up game to get ready , so 3 weeks to get one of these guys good to go. I am going with the transfer, experience wins out, but this is no Peterman by any stretch.

Where is the conspiracy? Secrecy is not a conspiracy. It's what most coaches do.

Like last year don't expect to see much against Youngstown unless we're not doing well.
We might see a few QB's and a simple game plan just to confuse the genius James Franklin.
I'd start my worst QB and work the starter in so no one knows whats going on!

Brilliant thinking like that would get you busted down to assistant special teams coach at Thiel College in a heartbeat. Third-team QB makes a couple mistakes and suddenly you are down 14-0 and fighting for your life vs YSU.
Deception and trickery are tremendously overrated. Blocking, tackling and fundamentals win football games. Put your best team on the field, line up, and play.

It's definitely a lot a gamesmanship with how Narduzzi and company talk to the media about who's performing and who's they're gonna give the real PT to ongameday.

But also they were really honest about another thing: Until these guys play in the real arena vs. a true opponent, total strangers trying to win and knock their heads-off, who really knows how they'll perform??

Watson did pretty much say Max Browne was eating up every single rep with the Ones, while Ben DiNucci was running exclusively with the #2's except in the no-contact, back-yard catch 7-7 drills.....That's pretty much yelling out Max Browne is #1, and DiNucci is a backup but I get what you're saying --- Narduzzi and Watson aren't making it obvious to the media out-loud whether Browne is truly impressing them in closed practices. They haven't shown any excitement about him as their #1 or anything lol they're pretty tepid.

Gotta remember too -- 6'5'', 230 (after putting on 15 pounds of muscle with S.C. Andrews) Max Browne might be looking like Matt Ryan in Football practices right now. Browne might be looking like a Top-Ten draft pick in the Southside but it doesn't matter one-iota until YSU: No one -- be it us fans, or heck, Narduzzi and O.C. Watson -- know what he'll do in a live game until he does it ;) so our waiting-game continues! Hail To Pitt!

The secrecy doesn't effect the Cowboys in any way, at all. We begin game prep for Tulsa tomorrow. While you're playing PSU in week two, we'll be slogging along in Ladd-Peebles Stadium against South Alabama.

Then we'll turn our attention to you guys and most likely concentrate on your game film with PSU. We do have paid analysts who will look at the Youngstown game footage, to glean what they can, but you're more likely to open up the playbook against PSU than we are against USA or Tulsa.

Cannot f around at this position. We better be ready for YSU and not be worrying about gaming PSU and/or OSU.
