The Pitt Panthers' all-purpose dynamo Quadree Henderson emerged as one of the most dangerous players in the country in 2017. With over 2,000 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016, Henderson is a threat to score anywhere on the field. A wide receiver by trade, Henderson is a dynamic runner as well as return man. Talk about a player who proves that just because a kid did not come in on day 1 & make his impact felt that 1st year does not mean that a player is not capable of (not just becoming All ACC status) becoming a All American that very next year.
Last year a large % of the posters on this site dismissed the capabilities that our WR corps would provide last year yet w/ Jester Weah & Quad leading a strong nucleus at WR it proved to be a strength for our football team.
Sometimes we get far too hung up on H.S. awards, star ratings, etc. & then over emphasize how they preform as true Frosh to the point of dismissing what a athlete may have to offer or are capable of doing for the team. All of a sudden we go straight to the new recruits as being the impact players as if those last year true frosh or RS recruits disappointed & may never contribute in any meaningful way.
Well Quad & Jester proved that to be a big mistake & oversight. Coach Duzz & staff have established a very competitive atmosphere that allows kids to stay involved & active in the process to the point where they know they are only a graduation or injury away from showing what they are all about. We have more talent on this team at positions of need than many of us think....they just need that opportunity & stay injury free to develop & show how good they really can be.
I really feel our D-Backfield has the potential to go from being last years whipping boys to solid foundation key to the success of a up & coming defense that improves w/ each game this year. We have the athletes w/ the talent. They just need the confidence, opportunity & a few games of success to build on to get them over the hump & on their way.....

(Unanimous Consensus All American Too Very Rare Limited To Maybe 10-12 Players Each year From 15,000+ from 131 FBS Teams Rosters of 110-180 Players Each)

It was not dismissed, as much not knowing if they could replace Boyd. OC Canada in the first few games limited passing, and many more running until WR developed by Mid-Season is how I see it. Now they are ready in 2017 but now new QB & TE too, so another Unknown until game days? Not disagreeing just augmenting!

Exactly, Coach pat 7 Staff have to Coach up, but if he had more 4 & 5 Star Recruits instead of 16 in 2016 and 14 in 2017, he might do even better?

Agree, and now need to see those Executions that just missed by seconds and cost Pitt wins against OKST, UNC, VT and NWU! Difference between 8-5 and 9-4, 10-3, 11-2, and 12-1!

Ditto!

I feel he'll still be a major threat on Kick off and punt returns. The jet sweep will no longer be a surprise,
so I'm hoping Henderson makes big strides in the receiving dept. I have to believe he'd be even more
dangerous out of the slot, if we could come up with another receiver to compliment Weah.

He's electric...great vision as a runner. Need to take more advantage of his skills in the passing game. Q,, Delaware's gift to Pitt!

It seems to me that Pitt is trying to bring in a Henderson type kid in each class. Good idea.

His vision as a runner (like any successful runner w/ the ball) is extremely crucial to his success......w/ his speed Quad is very committed once he sees & selects his path to the point that the defenders are left no options trying to find a way to get a hand on him.
Now every runner once he gets the ball will have moments of indecision to the point where their lack of making that quick cut or decision will turn into a blown up play but it happens ever more infrequently w/ Quad as his time goes on. Considering he was just a true Soph. last year really shows how polished & mature his game is progressing toward. Let's hope that his development continues on the path that he left off at the end of last year.
Quad is also a very compact & strong runner who is not able to be arm tackled or brought down very easily on most occasions. If I had to pick 1 issue to address w/ Quad it would be to protect the football. That was really the only issue that I had w/ Quad at times last year which is not unreasonable considering his lack of experience & age as he exploded onto the scene last year. It seemed he wanted to try turning each carry into a highlight reel run when he would have been better off accepting that some plays cannot all be Home runs & just take his medicine instead of being somewhat careless w/ the ball while attempting to make something out of nothing.
But overall Quad has the goods to continue making opponents concentrate too much of their effort on slowing down or stopping him while opening up opportunities for other Panther talents.
Let's all hope the new OC has ways of taking Quad's talents & impact on the game & making others benefit off of his presence while also continuing to keep making big plays by rushing the ball but also catching it downfield.

The jet sweep was not a "surprise" play at any time last year. We ran it a ton while Chaney was OC and ran it often in every game last year, so opponents knew from film study that it was an integral part of our O. The reasons it worked so well all year were (1) better blocking, (2) far more dynamic athlete running the sweep, (3) more options and misdirection, and (4) all kinds of pre-snap shifting along the O line, keeping the defense unbalanced and unable to settle into comfortable base sets.

We have some big shoes to fill on the O line, at QB, and most critically IMO, at OC. With Browne starting that will take away one option that kept defenses off balance last year, which was the QB faking the sweep and keeping. By all accounts he's not very mobile. And then we will see what Watson does with the O. He's already talked about it being more vertical than Canada's was last year, but that may be an adjustment for Browne, who has a big downfield arm but heavy feet. I don't think he's got the agility and running ability that was needed at QB to run the O the way we ran it last year.
