... does anyone have the full scoop here?

I am a Verizon customer and right now they don't have an agreement with AT&T Sportsnet. So I'm thinking I will be able to go to the game on Wednesday, provided my ticket request goes through. But I'm guessing if they don't, I will need to go and find a place to watch the game, yes?

Does anyone know about TV for subsequent games?

I haven’t seen any more listed yet.I would have to assume a lot of ACCN and ACCX.I would also have to assume Northwestern would be on ESPN or something. Is the schedule complete at this point or is there going to be a game added?

The Pitt Sports web sight hints at another game being added.

Its a Raycom game which means its syndicated to regional sports networks like ATTSN in Pittsburgh. If you live in an area where ATTSN is the local RSN, your only way to watch the game as part over cable, satellite, or fiber-optic is on ATTSN. However, you may be able to watch the game on your phone if you switch off your wifi. Since your wifi is probably through your cable, satellite, or fiber-optic provider, you won't be able to watch it on your phone if its switched on. But switch it you switch it off and stream it through your cell phone's network, you should be able to get it.

My phone provider is through work (sprint) so it's completely different that my home cable / internet provider. How does this impact your suggestion?

That means if you switch the wifi off on your phone, you should be able to watch it blackout-free on your phone since its being streamed on Sprint's network and not Verizon Fios.

If all else fails, the replay is always available on the ESPN app so if you can do it, avoid the score and start watching it at 9:30

Where's the link? ESPN?

Also, I suspect I'm wondering more about the Drexel game since I hope to be a the StF game Wednesday.

This is not accurate. They are always able to deduce your location based on what cell towers you connect to. Actually, if you open maps on your phone, you are located first by cell triangulation before your GPS signal locates you more accurately.

If you have access to a VPN provider, you can try to select another city that wouldn't be showing via RSN. ESPN's apps seem to do no checking against VPN access (others like Hulu do), but I'd recommend using a computer and web browser instead of phone. I have watched Pitt football and volleyball games this way when they are on ACCNX but picked up by ATTSN. I just route through Chicago or New Jersey or somewhere and everything works fine.

Switch to Comcast? lol

That used to be true. Last year, I was able to switch off the wifi and watch. I don't know what changed but it worked. Its probably hit or miss.

Update: I'm able to stream the NCSU/Liberty football game from my phone by switching off wifi and using my YTTV login

Yes it is on the ACC’s RSN package, which means ATT Sportsnet in Pittsburgh. I saw the promo commercial for the game a few times today.

Sling is showing it as being on ACC Network Xtra (ACCNX) here in the DC Xurbs.

All Raycom games are also listed as ACCNX but if the game is picked up by your local RSN, which it surely will be if you live in an ACC market, you wont be able to watch it live on ACCNX unless you use my workaround.

Any thoughts on how to watch Wednesday's game as a Verizon customer? since they are still in a pissing match with AT&T Sportsnet.

Looks like it will be on ESPN App -- any idea if it will be blacked out there?

Well, now that I know that I won't be going to the game in person, this Verizon customer is going to his Mother-in-law's place to watch the game.o_O

Do you have Fios TV?

Call up Fios and tell them to cancel Fios TV and replace it with YouTube TV and then use your YouTube TV login to watch the game on your phone on the ESPN app. Fios actually offers YouTube TV as a TV alternative, weirdly. Its all on 1 bill. And you get a free month of YTTV. That's what I do.

Or ... I can go to my Mother in Law's place for a night. That seems easier.

so if you have Youtube TV, you can watch the game? But not on the Youtube TV app, but on ESPN? Even if you are local?

That’s what people with no life and careers would do..

Is it true that Pittsburgh is the only FIOS city that had ATT Sports? I believe I read that, or something like that in the Trib.

If that is the case, that could be bad.

Still, I think the Pens and Pirates will not accept the situation. Something will get done one way or another.

Maybe a sale of ATT Pittsburgh?

And you can only get the game if you are facing north with one leg in the air.

I don't want all of these contortions just to watch TV. Give me a connection that is simple and where I can punch in a channel and get the program. If I can't do that, screw it. It's not worth it.

Well of course it's true. I mean why would FIOS in Chicago (to pick a random city) show AT&T Pittsburgh on their system? Who there would watch that, other than a few Pittsburgh expats?

I mean does it bother anyone in Pittsburgh that their local service doesn't pick up NESN or NBC Sports Bay Area?

Maybe I worded my post poorly - maybe I misread the Trib article

AT&T Sports in all their localities except Pittsburgh do not have contracts with FIOS

Comcast, Direct TV, Dish - No FIOS

Pittsburgh is the only AT&T SportsNet market where Verizon has cable systems.

Do you know how many AT&T SportsNets there are across the country? Seemingly not.

It can be true that Pittsburgh is the only AT&T market where Verizon has cable systems and for that fact to be completely and utterly irrelevant.

In fact not only can that be true, it is true.

Look - I made no great claims of expertise here - I seldom do - I don't act like you - Read my initial post!

I attempted to communicate what I read in the article. I said I did not clearly understand what the import of that was.

OK with you?

Is it OK with me that you admit that you didn't know what you were talking about but felt the need to comment on it anyway?

Yeah, sure. I'm not sure why on earth anyone would want to do that. But if commenting on things that you admit you don't understand floats your boat, go for it. Just don't be surprised when someone who does understand points out that you, well, don't.

Just tried to present some information I thought some might not have read.

Sorry - I won't do that again

How much do you suppose his mother in law is going to charge him to watch the game?

I meant switching Fios TV for YTTV. But it looks like the Pantherlair Gamewatch is at DT's mother-in-law's tomorrow. Remember your masks! That'll keep Indiana Panther Fan or whatever he's calling himself then away.
