Hi Captain
Why have we not seen an update on the audit of Penn State. I heard many of the legislators are trying to keep it pushed down. I think the Governor should cut some of the funding to the university. I can only explain it as there arrogance that they feel they are above all.

The one interesting thing I saw from the audit outside of their non reforms, was how they had a higher than normal out of state students on main campus.

Probably twofold for this....one is they can make more money on out of state tuition and additionally with 245 branch campuses they can keep those funded with in state kids that may not have the academics for other schools

The only things the audit did was to result in shame for Barron, Erickson the liar, the BoT, Freeh, NCAA, and paying victims far more than they should have gotten, and in some instances they were paid when they should have gotten nothing.

Auditor General Eugene Anthony DePasquale does a terrific jobs on Audits and as great qualifications earning a BA from Wooster, MPA at Pitt, and JD at Widener, and knows his ways Politics growing up as Grandson to City Councilman "Jeep" DePasquale. He also was in Commonwealth Appointments and later a Legislator from York County. He knows his way around Harrisburg and has ambitions beyond his current elected position. He can't be bullied by Legislators of either party and is smart to know that good government is good politics. he has limits on what he can audit as well. Still, the Power to Audit is also the Power to take on legislators and also make friends.

It came as a shock since Penn State really went after what changing the "Culture of President Spanier" that really revealed many Educational Deficiencies. They seldom had proper Background Checks on any Employees and even some Faculty had major criminal records (Very Few) and that all changed in 2012 Penn State Policies Changes. Posted them a few times to refute Pnnyliar lies.

Nevertheless, after 2011, Penn State really had tough Background Checks even on anyone that wanted to give money to Penn State. They had a quick way to see if you had committed a Crime or even Arrested but not convicted and would refuse or return the Check regarding on anything that abuse.

Additionally, Heard some rumblings that like any New Reforms they get relaxed after some time. Apparently the Auditor General found Penn State’s overall performance and implementation of Freeh Recommendations put in Under NCAA Sanctions On Campus Monitor following the Penn State Football Program Athletic Integrity Scandal were overall quite good. Penn State did embrace substantial changes especially in Child Protection, Employee Training, Student Admissions Orientation, and Athletic Integrity Educational Compliance's and making sure all Athletes have a obey a Code of Conduct just like every day Students are subject to Judicial Affairs Discipline that Paterno had his Player ignore according to Department of Education Investigations and Fines.

However, Penn State has had some major problems with Cybersecurity Issues and Background Check Admissions and that is what the Auditor General cited in seeing a 4% & 8% Missing Backgrounds. Heard that these Department are about to go through some Major Re-Organizations but that was planned as the Audits were being completed and that will soon change and be corrected.

I think the Governor should cut some of the funding to the university.
To be fair, the timing is ripe and right on with the opening of the Penn State Child Abuse Research Center in September. The Admissions and Campus Access Background Check is part of changes and compliance's on Child Research aiming to prevent child abuse and improve treatment. The National Institutes for Health gave Penn State $8 million and $3 million came from Penn State. The platform will complement Penn State's Child Maltreatment Solutions Network. Both established in reaction to the Penn State Football Program Athletic Integrity Scandal. Along with the Criminal Convictions of Jerry Sandusky, Graham Spanier, and Pleas Convictions of Curley and Schultz.

The PSCMS Network will continue its work in education and outreach, while the new money will be purely for research. Still, the Auditor General did find real concerns on the lacking of background checks and Penn State and commonwealth paid out much money fixing it, so why not make Protection of Children a Zero-Sum Perfect Process as promised when Penn State calling for more money to do it from the legislature.

I can only explain it as there arrogance that they feel they are above all.
One reason why it is a good time to mention, for Pitt to seek $10 Million from Federal and Commonwealth to open its Western Pennsylvania ACCN Communication Center at Pitt, just like UNC and NC’S are doing, VT and UVA too. Along with putting pressure on Penn State Legislators to play Pitt every year and augment both Regions with Million Tourist’s Dollars from sellouts in both games helping City of Pittsburgh and State College. This would help Heather and Sandy come together too in renewing the series with President Barron and Chancellor Gallagher.

Interesting you bring up Funding.....The Current Commonwealth Budget has a hang up on allowing Gambling in Small Bars and Tobacco Shops with 3 to 6 machines and in conjugation with selling marijuana all for increased taxation. However, few know it but only 17 -21 Counties support the Lottery out of 67 raise most of the Pennsylvania Lottery Money because Central Pennsylvania Bible Belt do not sell as much as Western and Southwestern, Northeastern, and Philadelphia areas. One can tell by where the Race Track and Casino opened.

Yet, Distribution of those Lottery Revenues decision is made through the Commonwealth Budget process in the General Assembly. The same for Marcellus Shell Impact Taxes & Fees are again raised in Northeast and Western Pennsylvania, most of the eastern Pennsylvania has no Fracking gas at all and none in Philly either, but they get a large portion of those Fees too.

Finally, most Penn State Alumni in General Assembly come from Central Pennsylvania and could be put into embarrassing political situations for not playing Pitt whereby Western PA is raising a Big Majority of Gambling, Shell Fracking and County Lotteries money that their counties and District do not raise. Joe knew this and why he scheduled Temple 2 for 1 for year rather than playing Pitt! Speculation also on the Auditor General may use this one day to win Higher Office.

These are Political Issues where it is a Win-Win for Pitt and Penn State.

Well, Penn State still created its problem by only Penn Staters, Alumni, Employees, and can't run away from anything, since it was a total Penn State Football Program Athletic Integrity Scandal with Criminal Child Molestation and Children Endangerment Convictions by Penn State Alumni Jurors with Penn State University having to pay for the Non-Compliance's, Sanctions, Lawsuits, and Criminal Defenses and if want to call them Liars, at least call them Nittany Liars, like you act on the Lair and BWI!

Can't blame the Kids that a Penn State Alumnus was abusing and Penn State University Football Program was approving by omission, silence, and covers ups, and then blame other Penn State Alumni Trustees that put in New Athletic Integrity Reforms in 2012 to correct the Problems cause by Penn State Players Alumni, Coaches, and Outsiders, Investigators, and Experts had to investigate and correct at only Penn State!
