I wonder if the ACC brass is putting any pressure on Pitt’s AD to do something about this embarrassment? This is not a good look for the ACC and it hurts everyone’s SOS which is a big factor in the calculation for RPI rank.

The ACC has major problems in basketball as we know. ESPN gave them a network and their product is at an all-time low. A main part of the problem is that teams are going for cheapo coaching hires while the SEC is hiring guarantees. I stated a few weeks ago that the ACC DOES need to intervene somehow and possibly set a minimum for new hires. For example, if Pitt or NC State have openings, they shouldn't be allowed to go cheap again and continue to hurt the ACC while the SEC loads up on big-time coaches. Steve Pikiel, Ed Cooley, and Kevin Willard NEED to be in the ACC. Throw Pitino in there too as another I95 corridor coach who should be at a bigger program.
I mean the coaching situation in the ACC is just dreadful:
Keatts - done
Capel - 1 more year at best
Brownell - maybe 1 more year. Really good coach but cant recruit
Larranaga - feast or famine with that guy
Mack - gone
Brey - lost his fastball similar to Dixon II
Boeheim - reminds me of late Paterno era, hanging on too long
Davis - too early but UNC could have hired Jesus if they wanted to
Pastner - GT got him cheap and he's mostly sucked except for Covid'ing a path to the ACCT Championship. He's probably gone soon.
Grant - lottery ticket, we'll see
Good coaches
Forbes
Young
Bennett
Duke is foolproof now I think.
So, basically, out of 15 teams, you have 4 programs in what I would consider to be good shape with their coaches and that includes Scheyer at Duke and there's a lot of unknowns there too.
The ACC is a mess. An absolute mess. Its not just Pitt. I'm not sure any "pressure" will be applied to Pitt to make a change but I definitely think SOMETHING has to be done from a league perspective. Right now, Bracket Matrix has the ACC with a 3, 10, and 2 11 seeds. That sounds like an A10 or Pac 12 year.
