Are we seeing a similar situation with Canada, Conner and Moss that we saw with Chaney. Voytik and Peterman.

Is the offensive coordinator putting his thumb on the scale to determine who plays with the plays he calls for each player? Is he doing this because one player fits HIS scheme more than another?

I have not done any breakdown of the plays called for each player. It does seem to me though, that the calls for Conner are more predictable much like the plays that Chaney called for Voytik.

Conner's an incredible story but doesn't look like himself just yet. And, really, with all he's been through, who can expect him to/ Probably will look awesome as ever after a full off season of training. I'd play him in short yardage, goal line. I'd use Moss and Ollison otherwise.

Your portrayal of the Voytik situation is a tired narrative. I appreciate what he accomplished at Pitt, his loyalty to the school, and the way that he handled his demotion. To suggest that he was displaced because an OC put his thumb on the scale is ridiculous. He's no longer the starter at whatever directional school he landed, and you're still carrying a torch for him to be starting. Time to move on.

Any OC is going to love speed.

Which reminds me - I don't know if we realize what a loss George Hill has been. While he would only have been a true freshman, with his pure speed, he would have been dynamite giving Henderson a breather on the jet sweeps. No one was catching George Hill. Big, big loss for Pitt.

Go Pitt.

Is Moss that fast? He had at least one and maybe two runs this season, where it looked like he would/could take it to the house. He did not come close.

I agree that Conner's conditioning does not appear to be all the way back.

I do think it a mistake to limit him to 11 or 12 carries - Just MHO

Again, depending on the game, that's where I'd have him. I want to see more Ollison.

And, Majors, I think Tipton, Ffrench and Whitehead bring a lot when receiving a jet sweep handoff.

He has excellent acceleration into the hole. Not sure he's going to outrun anyone once he's in the open. CJ Anderson would be the pro I'd compare Moss to, at least within the first ten yards of the line of scrimmage (Anderson is a little faster in the open field/thinking more running style).

It seems like he is very concerned with ball security (absolutely nothing wrong in that).

I think Conner merits 20 carries a game - After 2-3 games of that, I would be willing to revisit

How soon we forget

Allow him to run his plays

To be fair , he has averaged 18 carries per game so far this season, with several passes also thrown his way each game.

Conner is still a weapon, but he needs time to recondition his body to the level it was prior to his knee injury and bout with cancer. Hopefully he continues to play well this year and comes back next year stronger than ever .

If you are asking if Canada is intentionally putting Conner into plays that yield less yardage than his fellow backs I think the answer is no, he is not. I love Conner just as much as the next guy but his production is down. He dropped a pass in which he was wide open and his best performance came against Nova. He's simply worn down from the grueling offseason and Canada sees that.

A more compelling question is in regards to a different RB, Ollison. How the ACC O Freshman Of The Year that's faster and better conditioned than he was last season get essentially zero touches in the past 2 or 3 games.

This has continued to confuse the heck out of me. Moss looks solid and appears to get better each game. Ollison has some wheels once he gets into the open field, or at least has a better top end than the rest of the bunch.

He was incredibly patient as a runner last year, letting this great OL open up lanes for him to run through last year.

No idea why he isn't getting more time unless he is still having issues blocking. Blocking is incredibly important on the jet sweeps.

I thought he played very well in the Penn State game, the OKL St game too - How about the TD catch in that game? What is he, our 2nd leading receiver? Everyone drops a pass once or twice - I have seen Larry and Tyler drop a few

Unless Conner has an injury we don't know about (like a hip pointer), I can't see only giving him 11-12 carries.

If they give him the ball and run his plays, I see a big game from Conner this weekend.

It has been mystifying why Ollison has not played more often in his short career.

He always seems to be in the dog house.

How does he get passed by Moss and Hall?

Well, the biggest thing a RB can do wrong is fumble because a lot of times you're handing him the ball to minimize the risk of a turnover. I think that's just good fundamentals. I love it. Rather not pick up an extra yard than put in on the ground.

Bettis put a ball on the ground in Indy that year that nearly killed the Steelers. I'll take ball security any day.

Very hard to answer since Voytik rarely saw the field after Peterman got the job.

Moss has a skill set and style that the other backs don't have. He is quicker to the hole, can make jump cuts/move laterally in tight spaces. In addition he also beings the toughness and relentless strength of the other RB's. He's the real deal.

I think Duzz just needs to play the hot hand. That said Ollison must be deep in the doghouse for some reason.

I thought Conner ran hard today.

On his run down to their 12 (the one he clocked their player), might have been better off trying to get past him than run through him.

Nice to see him a part of this win.
