Question ....

Did not see anything about the NIT, but did see something about the CBI being cancelled the other day. On another note Las Vegas is scheduled to host 5 conference tournaments this year:

PAC
MWC
Big West
WCC
WAC

Presumably I will not be permitted to attend any of them.

Had they planned a one site bubble similar to how the NCAA tournament will be conducted, it probably could’ve happened but I can’t see many schools wanting their kids to hop around the country any more than they have to. It’s a shame if it doesn’t happen, as it’s a wonderful developmental tool for teams on the cusp of breaking thru to the NCAA tourney or for low majors to get a taste of meaningful basketball against bigger schools

The NIT is run directly by the NCAA

Yes but, to my knowledge, they have not put in place a proposed single site model for an NIT tournament. My point was that, for the NIT to work, you’d have to adopt a similar format so teams aren’t traveling all over the country

I saw a note a week or two ago that Dan Gavitt, head of NCAA basketball, said that the plan is to still hold the NIT, but that the final 4 may not be at MSG.

EDIT: Posted this after Recruits’ above tweet.

I'd love to see Pitt play in this. We probably have to go at least 3-2 the rest of the way so it doesn't look good.

One thing in Pitt's favor is that there may be several programs with better resumes than ours who have zero interest in this event.

Having said that, I also don't think Pitt should play in it, even if we somehow manage to enter the discussion.

those conferences should have picked smaller towns in their footprints or heaven forbid , play it in one schools campus (ooh the horror of one team having a non existent advanatge) how does having all those tourneys here in lv "address" the covid issue

Not sure if you saw the article in the RJ, but Mark Few wouldn’t commit to Gonzaga playing in the WCC tournament. He kind of tried to talk his way around the subject and said they‘d “like” to be there, but didn’t really indicate that they would.
