I'm in agreement with Steinbrink that it's too far into Capel's tenure to care about moral victories but there were some good take aways:
- I think the one thing that can't be overlooked is that 16-0 run. It was just perfection from a basketball perspective even if it was against us. That's the type of run a title contender has. What was more important, is that this team didn't give up like it did against ND. We all worried about another spiral but they were determined and just didn't have enough last night.
- Champagnie was forced to try and create in the low block. Funny a "bad" game for him is 18 and 10. What I DON'T understand is why we don't put Horton in the corner on those isolation plays. If the double team is coming you make them pay with an open 3.
- I thought X had a better game than 3 for 12 would indicate. When you have a 7-1 TO/AST ratio, that's what you need. I didn't see many 1 on 3 or out of control spots from him.
- I would have to think that UVA played a bit above their level. The defense was pretty good all game but only so much you can do when they hit for a dozen threes. Of course, we have another random bench guy go off against us. Woldentensae (I bet @Chris Peak is happy he doesn't have to spell this a lot) averages 2.5 ppg and goes for 14 on 4-5 from three, including a few where he was absolutely covered by a defender.
