Quip Pipeline Reopened?

While I agree that Pitt can no longer wait on WPIAL kids, the Quips are a definite exception

Meh..... there was a lot of whining about Narduzzi ruining Devonshire's presser from the locals in Quip according to someone I know in that area. If there is talent there offer, but idk about a pipeline. Seems to me local kids really love Pitt and the hometown thing or they cant stand Pitt and use their offer for leverage and a back up plan. I'm over the whole local thing. Just find kids who want to be here and are proud to wear the panther logo.

Exactly! Traveling is a lot easier today. You can get a 2 hour nonstop flight to FL for as low as $40 one way. Their families can fly up to visit once in awhile, and a lot of kids want their space anyways. You can still FaceTime, Text, etc. whenever you want. It is a lot different today than it was 20 years ago.

Pitt needs to keep goin down south for talent... theres too much negativity around the program in the WPIAL (specifically Quip) that isnt going to change until we prove we can win 8-10 games consistently.

If I had to describe the current relationship between Pitt and Quip right now... I would sum it up with one phrase... "bad blood".

Maybe one day it will change?? Honestly, I couldn't care less as long as we win.

Serious winning would turn all these local yokel recruits around to our side pretty fast. Just like local fans, politicians, etc. But it would have to be NC playoff / championship level winning, and more than one fluke year. 2, 3 years of 12,13 win seasons would do it though. The 8th and 9th grade kids coming of age during that success would become the 10th, 11th, 12th grade varsity players with an entirely positive impression of Pitt. As opposed to what happens with kids now, when we go .500 and lose our highest profile games.

Aliquippa is one of those areas that seems to have this weird, "everyone wants to hold us down" mentality but it's never awesome when your HC gets too salty at a HS kid.

What's the hit rate for schools who produce d1 kids who later produce in college?

Not sure how you'd define a subjective term like "produce". But who are the Quips that have produced / not in college? The ones that I recall at Pitt more often (Lay, Lindsey, Revis, Baldwin) than not (Campbell, Weekley, Pugh) have been solid players.

We need to create some objective data points.

I'd like to see

Aliquippa
Clairton
McKeesport
Penn Hills
Woodland Hills
PCC
ECP
TJ
USC
NA
Gateway
Etc

would look like when compared
