How in the hell do you hold Gonzaga in the 50’s? And has anyone ever been to Moraga, CA?

All that being said St Mary’s is one of those defensive oriented teams that has very little margin for error. If the shots aren’t falling they could be in trouble vs a lesser team in the tournament. They aren’t very talented on the offensive end but are well coached and play very, very hard.

I could see St. Mary’s getting a 4 seed in the tournament if they make it to the finals of the WCC.

Assuming they end up on like the 4/5 line, They seem like a team that might do better against the high major they play in Rd 2 than maybe the high scoring mid Major they’ll play in Rd 1. Unless they draw North Texas, in which case the 0/U should be at like 105 lol.

I love watching these WCC teams. Even the bad ones, like Pepperdine and Portland, are entertaining.

I don’t know how the brackets are projected for the WCC tournament, but I imagine Santa Clara or BYU will get Gonzaga in the semis, which is a shame, because I think either of those teams could/would beat St Mary’s or San Francisco.

Man I hope to be there if that happens, would be a great rematch.

Sad to say the WCC has somewhat priced me out for the finals in recent years, finals tickets have been $200 and up in a limited capacity arena and I just don’t want to pay that. There are 5 conference tournaments in town this year and my goal is to try and see 1 game/session in each of them.

Count me as shocked how well Portland has played this year, I didn’t see it coming at all. They had somehow managed to win 6 in a row before losing to Herb Sendek’s Santa Clara team tonight.

I am another who loves watching WCC basketball. It is my favorite conference and is definitely the strongest they’ve been in a long time. Gonzaga and St Mary’s are in, would think USF is very close. If BYU or Santa Clara win a couple more the conference could get 4 in, which would’ve been unthinkable a few years ago.

Their tournament at the Orleans Arena is awesome, smallish intimate arena which is packed for the semis and finals. Great atmosphere.

USF is in IMO. They have a strong NET ranking with some good non conference wins. I think they are playing for seeding at this point. I see the WCC getting 4 teams.

I have been there lots of time. Been in their gym several times because my 2 granddaughters had high school graduations there.
Moraga is a pretty cool town. Over the Berkeley/Oakland hills. Nice campus, great place to live. My oldest still owns her incredible townhouse there as she is working in Europe.
There is a world without Primanti`s.

Thank you, was invited to go there to a game once and couldn’t make it. Anyone I’ve known that’s been there has told me I missed out,

You are probably right about USF, at least I hope so. They are one of the teams I have at 1000-1 (USF, Murray St, Wyoming) that I’m hoping wins a couple games to set up a hedge.

I don’t know if Murray State is getting bored, but they bookended a blowout win over Belmont with near losses at UT Martin and SEMO. But once they get into the NCAAs they could certainly make a Loyola-type run. Unlike the Morant team, they are very balanced and can beat you many ways. Fun team.

I just saw Santa Clara is the 3 seed. I’ll go on the record now and say they get to the finals, beating St Mary’s, and possibly stealing a bid if they can upset Gonzaga.

I don’t think a win over St Mary’s would be enough, but they’d be in the next 6-8 teams for sure.

Santa Clara is #72 in the NET ranking. They will need to make the Finals of the WCC to be in the discussion of making the tournament. Gonzaga, St. Mary’s, USF, and BYU are all in the Top 50.

The Zags and others in that league get lots of foreign talent, it seems. Might be something for the next HC at Pitt to utilize. Probably more Euros than Anzacs.

If BYU doesn’t get in they can blame the inexplicable loss to Pacific in the middle of a 4 game losing streak. For some reason they seem to have one of those shake your head road losses against the dregs of the conference almost every year.

I think USF is in. BYU is probably in too, but I think they have a little more work to do. And if Santa Clara did not have a few injuries early in the WCC season, I think they could have made it too.
