Ranking the Coastal Coaches

I didn't imply anything. I just posted some meaningless stuff that was out there. I'm a Narduzzi fan. I think he's the right guy for the job. My one and only complaint thus far is I'm disappointed with recruiting. However, I'm aware there is a chance this class turns out a lot of solid players that win a lot of games in the next 4 years. I'm excited to see how it plays out and actually optimistic about the future of the program for the first time since Wanny was canned.

Corrected.

But what if he was killing it in recruiting but was far below average on game day and his team didn't show any signs of improvement over the course of the season looking lost for most of the season. Would you be complaining?

Well of course not; that would mean rooting against PS.

After year one, no. It depends on the situation though. I wouldn't complain at all if I thought we would have significantly better talent a year or two down the road.

BTW, we lost 3 of the last 5, so I'm not sure there was a lot of improvement made over the course of the season. Post Syracuse, I thought our game day coaching was quite ordinary.

This has to be one of the worst "articles" I've read in awhile....more like uninformed bar chat....Richt hasn't coached a game yet at Miami....Duke got their asses handed to em AT HOME....Johnson lost to Pitt and VT is also speculation......can't see the point in ranking what hasn't happened over what actually did happen...?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for Narduzzi. He really needs to finish this class strong and win at least 8 again next year.
Good find and link to post. However, this is a very tough analysis since 4 New Coaches added this year. But this is the purpose of Football Blogs for exchange of Info to share and learn.

Here is my own listing right now and invite others to do the same and we won't know for a few years how accurate they will turn out to be in the future. I have three rankings on Coaches, Game Day Coaching, Recruiting, and Program Coaching. No offense taken if anyone disagrees and welcome other comments. I added Syracuse because Pitt plays them every year.

RANKING ACC COASTAL COACHING:
I. Coaching Programs-Includes what the coaches inherit and the health of the Programs from Attendance, Recruiting Camps, Coaching Clinics, Staff Selection, Staff Salaries, Athletic Director Support, Boosters Money Support, Budgets, Facilities, and how the Coaches will deal these aspects of his Program in making them all better now and in the future. This is difficult category because some Schools already have pretty good Programs and others are rebuilding them with New Coaches.
I. Coaching Programs:
1. Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech
2. Larry Fedora, UNC
3. Bronco Mendehall, Virginia
4-5. Mark Richt, Miami
4-5. Pat Narduzzi, Pitt
6-7. Dino Babers, Syracuse
6-7. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech
8. Dave Cutcliffe, Duke

II. Coaching Recruiting-Simple it is about the Rankings over the last few years, availability access to Top Recruits, and then coaching them up to play as compelte Teams
II. Coaching Recruiting:
1. Mark Richt, Miami
2. Larry Fedora, UNC
3-4. Bronco Mendehall, Virginia
3-4. Pat Narduzzi, Pitt
5. Dave Cutcliffe, Duke
6-7. Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech
6-7. Dino Babers, Syracuse
8. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech
III. Game Day Coaching-Includes preparing Game Plans, coaching players to execute the Game Plans, Half-Time adjustments, and no quit attitude even in defeat, and analysis of blow outs or close win & losses and most of all playing against higher ranked Teams.
III. Game Day Coaching:
1-2. Larry Fedora, UNC
1-2. Mark Richt, Miami
3. Pat Narduzzi ,Pitt
4. Dave Cutcliffe, Duke
5-8. Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech
5-8. Dino Babers, Syracuse
5-8. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech
5-8. Bronco Mendehall, Virginia

I don't put much faith in the "experts". The same people who had Aaron Donald a 3 star. The Duzz won 2-3 games we would have lost in the past, with a transfer QB.

As far as those other coaches, Fedora in the past has made some of the dumbest game day decisions ever but a stud QB can overcome this. Richt will win 7-8 games on talent alone the rest will be coaching. Mendanhall has his work cut out moving to this part of the country. The VT coach is stepping up, wait and see. The rest, "they are who we thought they were".......Give me the DUZZ.

I love Paul Narduzzi. I liked the hire a LOT and was super optimistic that he was THE guy. The teams performance this year was validating of what my instincts were telling me. I also think he is doing a very good job recruiting.

That said, from a non homer's perspective I have absolutely no issue with this discussion.

Fact is, he has one year as a HC, as good as it was.

And, the coastal already had some darn fine coaches in Cutcliff, Johnson and Fedora before Miami and VA made super hires and VT got a darn fine coach to replace its fading legend.

I don't have an issue with any of these guys being "ranked" ahead of Nards after one year, outside of maybe Fuentes ...

Richt is a proven winner at big time program, Cutcliffe literally has worked miracles at Duke, Johnson is a darn fine coach as id Mendenhall, Fedora has a strong track record ...

Let the chips fall where they fall next year and then have this discussion ...

Many good points in your analysis! Good post!

It wasn't cynical. Some dude just ranked Narduzzi 6th and that's the only mention he got in the whole article. (which is an article I will admit is dumb and a waste of space)
Agree, they have lots of time at ESPN and create subject matter without caring
Whatever....ESPN is ESPN. This is what they do.

Maybe they can rank stadiums by seat color?
LOL!:rolleyes:;):):cool::p:D:rolleyes:
