2002- "Pittsburgh did it again to Virginia Tech, taking the team they want to be like out of championship contention. Brandon Miree ran 53 yards for a touchdown with 4:11 remaining Saturday night, capping the Panthers' rally from a 21-7 third quarter deficit and lifting Pittsburgh past No. 4 Virginia Tech, 28-21.Miree finished with 161 yards on 23 carries". We had a pretty decent wide receiver that year as well!!

2016 - James Conner?

Add yours to the list of our RBs against the Chokies..

Shell did well v. the Hokies. I don't really recall if anyone had a big game the last time Pitt beat them at Heinz. Obvioulsy, Ollison had a huge game last season as well. Barlow light 'em up?

I think the aggressive Hokie defense has problems with the jet sweep and change up play options. Defense will need to play well. Winnable after a bye week with VT coming off a short week.

I like Pitt to win one of VT and The U. Lose to Clemson. Beat Duke and Syracuse. Though, I guess it's possible to win both.

VT was one of the few games where Shell ran like we expected him to a few years ago . I think the combination of Conner and Moss are going to present a challenge early. Once VT commits to stopping the interior run game, look for Henderson, Whitehead, and Ffrench to exploit the edges.

The 2002 game was great---big picture on the cover of the Washington Post Sunday Sports the next day, "Unbeaten No More" and a picture of Miree breaking thru the line. Larry Fitz made two incredible first half catches---one on a jump ball in front of the Pitt bench and one for a TD in the corner of the end zone......

I had work so I only got to watch limited amounts of that game, but I seem to recall Voytik running the ball most if the third quarter, and then a very fresh Conner wore down the Hokies in the fourth.
