Realizing this is a super long shot, would we take BOTH Nwamu and Smith?

Truth is, we could really use more than one backcourt scorer, and if we're not gonna get a decent post man in 2015, why not?

I think just about everyone would take both, but it would make very little sense for both of them to come here. If one committed here, the other crosses Pitt off the list. These are guys coming from small programs, looking at big programs to showcase their talents, they aren't going to want to come in and share the position with each other, when there are other schools very interested in them.

I think we would only take both of them if we knew one of our current guards were not coning back.

I think this last part of mvk112 hits the nail on the head. You have a four guards on the roster that will likely see PT next year (JR, Newkirk, Jones and hopefully Wilson). Adding two more at the 2 even with DJ no longer being a factor seems a stretch to me. I hope they can land one of them. Recruiting sure needs a shot in the arm right now.

Of course Pitt would take both but its extremely unlikely both would commit. If somebody commits, the other crosses Pitt off as somebody else said. However, if I'm Jamie I'm telling Smith he's the starter at the 2 (he's not transferring to sit) and Nwamu that he's starting at the 3 over Jeter and Jones. It would be like the Louisville model as they just landed 2 high profile grad transfers at the 2 and 3.

And if neither are better than guys already here, what would you do??
Ridiculous posturing. Maybe we can hire Smith and/or Nwamu's parents, too?

Do anyone know when Nwamu is deciding. I guess we are in his top 3. Would be a nice addition

I think we will get a post man. However, more and more, it's becoming my belief that we could take another guard because Damon Wilson may need a year of prep school because of qualification issues.

Keep in mind that I don't KNOW that this will be the case with Wilson, and I'd hate to get a rumor started such as this. I do know that Wilson is a good student, and this issues are much more with his school, I would suspect.

We'll probably know a little more in the next 48 hours as that is supposed to be the timeframe for Diallo's decision. I still understand that Europe is still a real possibility for him. He could still pick a school though (even if he's not going to qualify.) But Diallo wants to play next year, then go to the NBA. Damon could prep a year.

That's really unfortunate.

Sounds like OSNA has a structural problem with their core courses and the Clearinghouse. Kobie Eubanks ran into that last year now Diallo and Wilson might be facing the same problem. It used to be an issue with a lot of religious schools but most of them made the adjustment.

We had the same problem for a while with some schools in depressed areas like Duquesne and even Aliquippa, where they didn't put a lot of kids in the college prep core courses but fed them pablum courses to keep them eligible.

OSNA will cease to exist as a destination for prime basketball prospects if their graduates aren't NCAA-qualified. If I were Yakwe or the big freshman they have, I'd probably be looking to transfer now.,

If Pitt did land Nwandu, it wouldn't be devastating if Wilson had to prep for a year. Minutes would be limited for Damon in 2015-16 and you don't risk a disgruntled player on the bench. Of course, no Nwandu, no Wilson, now the depth is thin if Newkirk doesn't improve.
