While at the Panther Prowl event last night, Coach Narduzzi was talking about the $3.5mm renovations that were going on and it got me thinking. I know a lot of people are saying "a talk but no results". I'd like to preach a bit of patience because of the rebuild.
Our figurative rebuild has been ongoing since Coach Narduzzi was hired. He has injected a new level of energy in the program. From his coaches to the admin and support staff, Pitt seems fired up in general. But, lets be honest, thats only going to get you so far. That will get you in the door but, in the case of the big time kids, they are taking a wait a see approach. Don't blame them. For all we know [I dont think itll happen], Narduzzi could come out and fall on his face. Just have a total blow out. So the kids are right in taking a wait and see approach.
Now for the literal rebuild.... one of the selling points for a lot of schools are the facilities. They show off how committed they are to winning, how nice things can be etc etc. Well, right now, our facilities look like this...
These kids cant even come in and be wow'ed by the facilities. They're walking and seeing a construction zone. Sure, you can see some other stuff... but the places they will spend the bulk of their time.... the part that is going to be used for recruiting... isnt done. Its exposed concrete.
To sum it all up, the coaching aspect just like the facilities aspect, I have faith that its going to be really nice when its done. But they dont have anything they can actually point to... Narduzzi's record is 0-0 and his facilities are being built... for this kids to latch onto. So when people are riding them for only having 2.25 commits as of 6/17/15, just think of what theyre looking at. Its got a ton of potential... but thats all it is right now.
