Recruiting and Context

No it isn’t. Maybe NIT if everyone comes back.

Yea, I would predict NIT, but that is a team that has enough talent to make the NCAAT so I'd take my chances with it rather than pissing away another season for a 4th complete rebuild in 6 years to plan for 2023-24 and 2024-25. I want something to root for in 2022-23.

Keep in mind that you are responding to the guy who thought that people were too mean to the former coach who was stealing, er, ah, I mean making millions of dollars a year to sleepwalk his way through a couple seasons here.
Not sure why you continue with this narrative ? Because I didn’t think Pitt would fire him due to the money owed to him ? Because I wasn’t pleased that Pitt tried to renegotiate a horrible contract after a horrible hire ?

Just like all these guys with the Capel has quit on this team talk , it’s funny how none of Stallings players felt that way about their coach and his three best players immediately left . None of us know really know what’s going on behind the scene s .

Ps…Bottom line booing and ridiculing college kids says more about you than you should want people to know about you . Coaches are fair game .

Nike and Burton cannot transfer without sitting
1) Nike can. He will have graduated
2) they may wanna move on with their life’s work
3) every player is gonna be able to transfer multiple times with no repercussions soon. All they’ll have to do is claim some sort of mental distress or threaten whatever violations are going on at whatever program they’re at. The smart ones know this and will exploit it this offseason. I know of one who transferred last year that already has a transfer planned again and will get away with it.

I didn't know they can transfer for free again if they graduate. Are you sure?

Either way, Capel absolutely has to return Hugley + a minimum of 2 of those 4 guards but probably 3. He can afford to lose Femi if he returns the other 3 and can replace Femi in the portal which shouldn't be overly difficult. I like Femi but he hasn't been as good as I thought so yea, you were somewhat right about him. I still think he can improve and be an important piece.

How old does a someone posting on the board need to be to not be considered a kid?

Asking for a friend...

1. Yes. Rasir Bolton is a graduate transfer for Gonzaga after forcing his way out of penn state and was granted immediate eligibility. You essentially have two free transfers if you graduate on time. There was another one who did this as well, I’ll find out his name and get back to you.
2. Femi would be fine if they played him at the 3 like they have been. He’s a solid player, just not a PG.

I mean, I had to clean my morning coffee of my laptop after reading that.
This team could be an NCAA tournament team if everyone comes back and they add a starting PG, starting PF and backup that can play both C and PF.

Think Xavier Johnson, Toney and Coulibaly.

Well, Bolton transferred before the "free transfer" rule and got an expemption (was this the racism one?). Trey McGowens would be another example of an "exemption." I'm talking about guys like Burton and Sibande who fell under the new "no questions asked" transfer rule. Not sure if they still get a free grad transfer. I guess no one knows for sure since its a new rule.

3. You were right that Femi isnt a PG. I didn't think he had elite PG skills but thought he could be a plus-level PG. He is a good player but just doesn't have those inherit PG skills, similar to Xavier Johnson but I know you love that dude. I do think Femi (and Johnson) can play PG for a really good team that can mask their deficiencies and you're seeing that with Johnson. For Pitt, Capel needs a PG and Femi needs to be on the wing. If he could get a legit PG and PF and return the wings, this team could potentially be really good.

Nike certainly did not fall under the no questions asked -
He missed a half a season prior to being deemed eligible .

Yeah, they set the precedent and aren’t going to punish kids moving forward for graduating. That would be dumb

Bottom line, I don't boo or ridicule college men.

PS... Bottom line, lying about what everyone knows is the truth says more about you than you should want people to know about you. And you probably know that, and yet you persist.

Well said .
There is no reason for open hostility to college players - but yes they are young men .

you put the Pitt Jersey on, I’ll root for your success .
If they falter - sun comes up the next day .
This team isn’t very good - and they have had more heartbreaking losses in 30 days that some don’t have in years .

simply put - we need help everywhere

I guess to be technically correct I should point out that on occasion I do boo when the visiting team comes onto the field/court at games, but that really isn't directed at any particular young adult as opposed to the laundry they happen to be wearing.

Save your booing for those who deserve it... the ACC refs.

For someone who loves to correct everyone you should get your facts straight .

Thinking that a university with the access to the finest legal minds would sign such a horrible contract with KS and then try to wiggle out of the responsibility of living up to the terms of that contract bothers me as it should anyone else . If they fire Capel , after making a horrible decision to extend his contract , he also deserves every penny that was guaranteed him . Believing this doesn’t make me a supporter of either coach , it makes a believer in living up to the terms of a signed legal document .

Also believing that the university wouldn’t fire KS due to the money owed to him also isn’t a sign that I supported him . For the record I was a JD man . Try and remember this if you can , but it doesn’t fit your narrative.

You budded in on this thread and did I ever mention you , feeling guilty of something ?

The fact is that you and one other person were his biggest supporters, to the point that you were still sticking up for him after the 0 for the ACC season ended.

The fact that you desperately want everyone to forget that doesn't mean that everyone has.

Your delusional, why don’t you bring up any of my old posts where I defended his coaching after the first yr ND win . Hint you’ll find none . I know your anal enough to do the research.

I totally hated the hire and I gave up on any hope that KS would work out when Cam transferred and Thompson de committed after yr 1 .

I liked Carr and thought PS was a player with potential , but that has zero to do with KS .

Expecting your university to honor a contract they willing made is not defending him , it’s defending a principle.

Gary is the only KS supporter I know which makes question his bb judgement, your jaded memory makes me worry about you !

Your history of posting is common knowledge on this topic
And it’s not as you are trying to retrocon

I don't need to do any research, it's pretty much common knowledge. Like I said, I get why you are desperate for everyone to forget it, but some of us can remember things past yesterday.

Standing up for a guy who committed NCAA violations bad enough that he got a show cause order against him is an odd principle to defend. Top level cheaters like Will Wade and Sean Miller have never gotten a show cause order against them. Kevin Stallings did. He is a cheat of the highest order. He spent two years stealing Pitt's money. And you stick up for him.

I am that anal -
But the message board archive only goes back until end of the season and his with cause firing .
So other than his Cheering for stallings to steal his full salary -
And altough we absolutely remember his defense -
I couldnt validate .
I’m sure Gary has it in his personal archive on a word document

Yeah , pretty impressive rebuttal about what I’d expect from you and really what would I care desperately for people to forget no matter which side I was on ? If I’m wrong on a subject unlike yourself I’ll admit it .

My God , Pitt must have really been doing Louisville , AU and LSU level stuff under Stallings , you know as well as anyone that how the ncaa polices itself is a joke . He had additional help in trying to improve his players skills , throw the book at him that criminal . That’s far worse than paying players and getting them laid . If Pitt wasn’t so desperate to save a few dollars no one would’ve have ever known about those violations.

Exactly how do I stick up for him ? I hated the “splash “ hire , I couldn’t believe they’d force JD out and hire a guy who blocked Jeter‘s transfer , wanted him 100% gone after Cam left and Thompson bailed after the first miserable season and thought Pitt was too cheap to eat his contract with 2 yrs left on it . It must be his outburst at Louisville which I thought was great that he defended his overmatched players or that I thought a university should honor a legal contract they willing offered the man . Or maybe it’s because his players much to my amazement had his back and Luther who was 100% a Pitt man along with Carr and Stewart wanted nothing more to do with Pitt once Stallings was fired . Maybe since your so in the know you know how he fooled his players into believing he cared , not one of them was ever quoted on how horrible a man or coach he was , but your the man in know who knows everything and is never wrong .

Stalling was a horrible hire and the blame for this lies solely on Barnes and the boosters .

Posters do get type cast, viewed as caricature of who they really are. Not much understanding of nuance or evolving opinion.

Say a couple of things (out of hundreds) to the wrong people and your image will be ser in stone forever.

I thought your reply was a honest, sincere and accurate description of your entire position.

I doubt it makes any difference In how some view you.

That isn't what he got the show cause for. He got the show cause because he had people set up as "lookouts" to warn him when someone might be coming to the gym that would see that he was breaking the rules. Had all he done was to have someone helping with practice that shouldn't have been he could have said, oops, sorry, I made a mistake, and all he would have gotten was a slap on the wrist.

But what he did was different. He knew he was cheating, and he set up a plan to cover up his cheating. And when he was asked about his cheating he lied about it. What's the old saying, the coverup is worse than the crime. Well that was exactly his situation. He turned something that would have been a minor violation into a big deal by covering it up and lying about it. Because that's the kind of guy that he is.

And that's the kind of guy that you are sticking up for.
