That isn't what he got the show cause for. He got the show cause because he had people set up as "lookouts" to warn him when someone might be coming to the gym that would see that he was breaking the rules. Had all he done was to have someone helping with practice that shouldn't have been he could have said, oops, sorry, I made a mistake, and all he would have gotten was a slap on the wrist.

But what he did was different. He knew he was cheating, and he set up a plan to cover up his cheating. And when he was asked about his cheating he lied about it. What's the old saying, the coverup is worse than the crime. Well that was exactly his situation. He turned something that would have been a minor violation into a big deal by covering it up and lying about it. Because that's the kind of guy that he is.

And that's the kind of guy that you are sticking up for.

Once again I’m not sticking up for the guy just saying what I think . Pitt Fb also had violations and they didn’t fire PN .

If Pitt wasn’t so cheap they’d have never reported the incidence . To save what $500,00 they turned themselves in and people think they’re going to fire Capel owning him 5yrs at 3 mil ( or if there’s a reduced buyout amount 10 mil or so ) !

You can believe whatever you want , but here’s some unsolicited advice, learn that your not always right !

Posters do get type cast, viewed as caricature of who they really are. Not much understanding of nuance or evolving opinion.

Say a couple of things (out of hundreds) to the wrong people and your image will be ser in stone forever.

I thought your reply was a honest, sincere and accurate description of your entire position.

I'm not always right, but I am about this. His violations, mostly the coverup, were bad enough to get him a show cause from the NCAA. Who won't even give a show cause to Will Wade. If that doesn't tell you what the NCAA thought about what he did then I don't know what to say.

The article I linked earlier in this thread talks about a negotiated settlement between the university and the NCAA.

I wonder if the NCAA was ever involved with a yet incomplete negotiated settlement with LSU regarding actions by Will Wade?

Maybe one University was negotiating against their coach for their own interests and the other was negotiating in favor of their coach For their own interests?

The goals of a University in such negotiations could be quite different.

Bingo ! They feed a coach , who was never going to get another job , to the NCAA and in the process got leverage to save a few dollars without any real damage to either of their programs . No other university would’ve ever self reported themselves. Think if Barnes was still the AD at the time this would’ve happened . He’ll no ! ( No Joe I’m not sticking up for either of these guys )

This shows you just how absurd the NCAAs enforcement policies are that schools that blatantly cheat can and do go on for yrs without any consequences and Pitt is sanctioned for having a couple of extra coaches helping in practice ( which no one will argue they needed ! ) and had lookouts …..my goodness can you believe the audacity KS showed ! Why pay players , parents , handlers or provide women when you can provide extra coaches !

You fire them and if you were dumb enough to sign them to a long term contract without buyout provisions that’s on you .

KS didn’t force JD out and he didn’t force Pitt to hire him nor did he singlehandedly write his contract. That’s all on Barnes , the boosters , the administration and their legal team . Treating the winningest coach in the history of the program the way they did Pitt got what they deserved . They became the laughing stock of college bb and 6 yrs later they’re still a lousy program. The losers have been the few loyal fans they still have .
