The close this year compared to last year. Who here thinks it will be better than last year? Who thinks it will be about the same? And lastly who thinks it will come up short compared to last year.

One thing to keep in mind with last year, the vast majority of those players we still don't know yet how good they are. Take Camp for example, many thought he would contribute this year, it didn't turn out that way.

When posters have asked about recruiting over the summer and in the last few months, many on here would say it's early.

We're getting down to crunch time...

Pitt finished recruiting so strong last year that it will be tough to duplicate this time around, IMHO.

Course George Hill - one of our better recruits - had the misfortune to have a medical condition (I guess the good fortune for George of having the condition discovered).
And we may lose out on the services of Zack Gilbert for a medical condition. The situation with those two players took a bit of the luster off of last year's class.

I'm hoping we can finish strong again. I thought last year's class - with Hill and Gilbert in it - was the strongest and deepest class we've had in many, many moons.

Go Pitt.

I'm not sure regarding the overall rankings of the class as compared with last year, but believe this class will fill most of the needs the current team has:

TE (Orndoff graduating): Reeves, Sear, and Carrigan all look like excellent players, with Carrigan or Sear likely moving to the OL at some point. I like the idea following the same move with Brian O'Neill.

OL (Biz and DJohnson graduating): Warren and Drexel look like excellent players, with Huoy and Van Lynn also coming on board. There also may be one or two OL who have yet to commit.

QB: Pickett looks like a player with a little time and conditioning under his belt at the college level. Need to land Browne to bring in some experience ahead of TMac, who I believe will be an excellent player at PITT.

WR: This is an area of concern with Street the only listed WR. My hope is the staff lands 1-2 to close out the class.

LB: Bright is going to be a beast at LB either this coming year or the following year. He is incredibly quick and loves to hit. Reminds me a little of Brightwell in the little bit of action we've seen. The LB position could be an area of strength with the young talent currently on the roster, and the guys this staff is bringing in.

RB: No one can replace Conne, the hear and soul of the team; but, the combination of Sibley, Moss, Ollison, and potentially Anthony Davis could keep the running game at a very high level.

DB/S: The extreme position of need should get better with the young players currently on the roster. Adding Ford to this group will make an immediate difference. Having him and Whitehead in the same defensive backfield should be a lot of fun to watch. Albert Tucker also looks like an excellent prospect. My hope is for 1-2 more DB/S commitments to close out the class.

A. Tucker recruited as a OLB and Van Lynn recruited DL I think this is correct.

I was one of those people who said it was early.

I'm not concerned but concede it's been slightly disappointing. I truly thought we would be able to at least get a hard look from proctor or singleton. I thought wade was going to be a panther.

None of that has happened.

We get Browne, Davis, Mathis, and a wild card though things can perk up a little. Think a couple guys haven't pulled their weight. Mainly hill and Sherman and Harley has been a little disappointing this year. Without Ohio this class would be nothing.

Also troubling to see Maryland and Rutgers out recruit us.

bob, agree with much of what your saying. although i wasn't on the wade bandwagon, just didn't think it was going to happen.

a lot of competition for singleton and proctor...

maryland has recruited pretty well under Durkin in year one, although that staff has some good recruiters. London has always been a good recruiter. But they did lose a really big verbal a few weeks ago, one of the best kids in the country at his position. the talk is he is flipping to psu.

i do think our staff could use a few more "recruiters". i'm not sure how hill can hang on to his job, the question you have to ask, which of his position players have improved in two years?

You acknowledge that we have 3OL already in the fold and have the potential to add 1 or 2 more, so 4 or 5 in this class....yet you still believe that Sear and Carrigan will move over. Do we really need 6 or 7 OL in this class when we only have 1 TE (Clark) on scholarship? Why is it so hard to believe that all 3 freshmen will stay at TE? I don't get it. Nobody besides board posters are talking about moving either just as a fyi.

I think it will be comparable – I really do. However, I won't know for sure for another three or four years.

I must say that I've been pretty disappointed so far with this recruiting class. I've held off any judgements because of the "just wait until NSD argument" - but here we are less than 2 months away from NSD and our class is rated 44th. On top of that, our OC has one foot out the door (PAY HIM ADMIN!) and it seems Narduzzi is throwing out desperation offers left and right as many of our top targets are leaning elsewhere.

Admittedly, I'm beginning to get a little worried. There's still some time to get things rolling like we did last year so I'll revisit my post in a month.

Name one 'desperation offer'.

last year came together the last week... like this year will

Proctor cballed to va tech now.

There is no reason to lose him to tech.

His coach was an ardent Pitt supporter and alum we offer immediate playing time. They obviously will get Garbutt as well. Fuente has left narduzzi on the side of the road

See more recruits leaving over the Canada situation.
Especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Recruiters recruit...

Like I said before, a couple more recruiters would not be a bad thing.
