Seemed to have been much more active this cycle! Is it my imagination or is our coaching staff working much harder? More visits and offers?

I think part of it is because kids can actually visit this spring. It’s a lot harder to get an idea of who we’re actually chasing versus who we’re just touching base with when everything is over zoom. It’s hard to argue with an official visit.

I think they’ve done an objectively better job this cycle at closing on kids and moving quickly on second and third options when their targets have gone elsewhere. But I do think the visits coming back have also played a part in the perception.

At a minimum they’ve allowed more info to get out there - last year other than the mama bear fiasco it was a complete mystery who they were after and led to an impression they weren’t getting players they wanted.

It at least seems like they are getting players they want - as opposed to last year when it felt like recruiting was an afterthought.

I have not researched it but it seems like there are more visits.

I feel like the staff has done a good but not great job with this years portal and we will have a respectable and experienced team next year. However the. X factor is how is the opposition doing. And a quick check reveals that the majority of teams have done well with both experienced college players from the portal and prep stars as well . But I do agree with the op that the staff seems more aggressive with their recruiting of transfers Which was imperative because of their futile recruiting of prep players.

IMHO, the massive transfer portal activity across the NCAA and the lifting of Covid restrictions on official visits has had more to do with this perceived greater recruiting effort than any conscious decision by the coaches to work harder at recruiting.
Yes, it’s lifting all the boats as far as volumes. Not so much quality.
