Recruiting

2026 updated big board came out, this is our class of rising HS Seniors:
#32 E. Brown
#46 K. Brown
#67 K. Scott
#179 S. Sloboda
#190 N. Nafshi
All 5 commits ranked, 2 in the top 50, 3 in the top 70. This class has the chance to be ranked in the top 10 nationally depending on how these guys senior years go

0 so far. At this point doesn't look like any major transfers are coming in. Some good guys still left out there so you never know

If we do get anyone that is a potential starter it would likely be at 125, 133 or 184. Every other weight seems to be pretty set with guys already on roster. And for 125/133 I don't know if it is worth making a move unless it is someone who won matches at NCAAs last year and Spidle is the only real candidate for that. I really hope we get a 184, not much competition at that weight right now if it is just Kranitz

That stinks hopefully just later registration. It’s right in Ohio so not like you need to travel far. Only see incoming recruits Steldt and Bouzakis listed

They must have heard you complaining:
Chappell, Limbert and Marlow registered at 57
Tallmadge registered at 61
Santaniello registered at 65
Evans and Keslar at 74
Steldt (incoming freshman) at 79kg
Kranitz at 86

for U20s: Bouzakis at 70kg

Kade Brown is going to U20 WTT for Team Canada! at 70kg. I would expect him to make that team and likely get to go compete at World's which would be great for his development.

In search of his 5th team…

Ok St
Iowa never wrestle match for them
CSU Bakersfield
UNC never wrestled match for them

Have to admit I have hated on him based on his poor decisions and attitude. He actually grew on me last year. Seems like he made some changes for the better. Don’t get me wrong still arrogant but in more fun manner and not fighting his own teammates.

Not sure how many more years he has. Was wrestling for Ok St in 2020-21.

He has at least 2 years left, he is arguing for a potential 3rd. I don't know where tf he will end up. IAST brought in Elam, Iowa brought in Endene (who they could recruit over, but they already had issues with AJF), Rutgers could use a 197 maybe? He made jokes about going to PSU at HWT but I doubt that was serious, OKST at HWT would make sense from a lineup perspective but would be shocked if DT brought him in/if he wanted to go back to Stillwater. Hopefully, he stays out of the ACC but I could see NCST at 197 making sense.

Im he's likeable if you're into folks who might name their future sons Walker and Texas Ranger

Looks like a 184 transfer from MSU. Lucas Daly

Glad there will be a real competition between two guys with starting experience. As it stands 184 is WEAK in the ACC. Having someone capable there will be huge for the team

Willie dropped his "first call" list for class of 2027. Suggested #35 Greyson Music as our first call, which I think is a real good option. Listed #8 Tsarni, #20 Rothermel, #34 Fortier, #36 Shawger, #60 Loiter, #74 Smith and #76 Horwat as other options. Has our weight of need as 184, but honestly the 2027 class will line up perfectly for almost all of our weights outside of wherever Bouzakis and the three Browns end up. One of Marlow and Scott could also end up as a 184, which would make that less of a pressing need but neither of them are locks to hold spots down.

No Sidun is interesting but likely due to the fact that he seems to be a main target of the Iowa's, PSU's, OKST's of the world. We should not just cede him to one of those schools, and it is possible they like other's in that class such as Burnett, Kenny, Regan or Villaasenor better. However, if he stays at Pitt it would be due to hometown discount and connection with the coaches; because bigger schools with bigger pockets will be after him heavy

I need to jump back on Rokfin again. When I lost my job last year, that unfortunately was one of the expenses I had to cut from the budget.

Where is Sidun ranked? Interesting that #8 Tsarni looks like an option but he doesn’t see Sidun as one.

On Sidun- One thing that is important; Willie has said repeatedly on boards and podcasts that the Sidun family sees him as a career 125. If that is the case, Iowa (who has career 125 DeLuca for the next five years) becomes less of an ideal option. Obviously if Iowa is where he wants to be, he will go there and figure it out; but looking at the top programs in the country PSU needs a 125- but I could see them favoring someone taller, Cael seems to value length in prospects a lot. OKST has stacked lightweight classes for 2025 and 2026 (and an already stacked roster) so I don't think they will even be able to pursue Sidun that hard. I think Iowa and PSU will be the main candidates for Sidun's services and it will be hard to pry him from either of them, but I would be as invested as possible into trying to swing him

Looking at the roster breakdown:
Pitt currently graduates 9-10 guys in 2027. That year will be a chance for a huge class from a numbers perspective.
That year the team loses
HWT: Dayton, 197: Mac, 184: Kranitz, 165: Keslar, 149/157: Solomon, 141: Priest as guys who have all been or could be starters here.

This means that other than whatever weight Elijah Brown is, there isn't really a weight that is off that table for the 2027 class. Because if there is a guy around the weight range of Bouzakis or one of the Brown brothers, there will still be question mark weight classes around them that someone could fill in for.

Troy Nickerson is leaving northern Colorado to become the head coach at army. I know Steveo had a very good relationship with Nickerson which took him out there. Wonder if he hits the portal? I’d imagine at this point if he does, most teams have 125 locked up. Hope we could be an option.

And he’s going to Iowa State
