How Important is a Program's Look?
Survey Link:

My take, well if the recruits think Bama has one of the Lower Uniforms hard to take the Survey seriously since Bama has the best program for the last 10 years? Top Recruits still choose Bama is the point and why Bama is winning more than ever with being a great program with a great coach, and uniforms have less to do with winning.

Wow.

That's certainly a dose of reality for some of the board experts.

This is a classic example of "I told you so"

You dont pick a college based on uniforms

From the linked article.

"The survey also asked the recruits how important uniforms were to how they viewed a program and whether threads would impact their decision on where to go. Seventy-two percent responded that it was either "very true" or "moderately true" that uniforms have a "great impact" on their perception of a team, while 33 percent said it was "very true" or "moderately true" that uniforms would impact their college decision."

And yet the survey determined that Alabama has the worst uniforms.

This is a case of kids saying one thing and doing something different. In situations like that, pay attention to what they are doing more than what they are saying.

Bama unis are not ugly. All whites might be but the red homes are sweet. Can't for life of me imagine how anyone thinks these are ugly.

Or it plays a factor, but Alabama can overcome it because they're 'Bama.

How you dress shouldn't play a factor but it does, whether its on the football field or in an office.

True, but it is also shows that only a few kids said that about Alabama and I am sure regional and demographic differences play a big difference in perceptions and the ultimate weight this holds. Is a bright kid from the South, who grew up watching SEC football going to eliminate Alabama, UGA, etc. because their uniforms have barely changed for 40+ years? No. Is a kid who is "a little less bright" from the West Coast and didn't grow up watching the more traditional programs going to be swayed by Oregon or Baylor's ever changing (and ugly) uniforms? Could be.

Let's be honest, these are kids who are, on average, not the brightest and many times not from the best support situations. That being said, if a "cool uniform" helps net us even 1 top prospect, it is worth it.

Oregon was a wasteland until they started messing around with uniforms. Now they get a lot of attention from recruits.

Was shocked at "market share" by the manufacturers. Wouldn't have guessed UA would rank third.

So far as Pitt is concerned, the Blue helmet look will be popular. I also expect a "surprise" uniform at some point that will be a big hit with the players.

I'm not sure that is true, but Oregon has also had fantastic facility upgrades at the same time.

In the 1970's Majors came in a change Uniforms and Logos to create a New Era separate from the past ten years of Pitt Football perception. Still, that started Chancellor Posvar, AD Cas, and the Pitt Alumni proving the cash for Pitt to attract Majors and have the funds necessary to Rebuild the Program & Facilities, Recruit the Many of the Best Players, and Return to winning CFB Games in Top 25 and Top 10 Rankings.

After the Glory Era was gone, Pederson came in 1996 and Re-branded everything again to separate the declining past for a brighter growing future, but the Re-branding did not attract the money necessary for the rebuilding just a return to mediocrity winning.

When Pederson return and was asked now that Pittsburgh is Pitt again, can theer be a return to the Script and colors, and his panned replied was that would not make Pitt win anymore game????

What Pederson never understood why the Pitt Script & Colors wwere not about Winning more, but getting the excitement of the Alumni to engage in putting up more Money so what Majors did in the 1970s can happen in 2010 and beyond. And why Gallagher had to tell him he had to go, just like Nebraska when Pederson took down the Nebraskan All Americans and replace them with Current Rosters of Nobody and without an Inspiration from any past?

It never was about the uniforms making anyone win more, Bama proves that and returned to bigger Winning by what Coaches they brought in like Saban.

Uniforms and Logos, are about what excites the Alumni to want to give and help provide the resources to attract Great Coaches, Recruits, and then Big Wins expands those donations and contributions to rebuild. Re-branding only helps if the Alumni want it and embraces it and contributes to get to the rebuilding started to attract a Coach, Staff, Recruits, and teaches them to win big again.

Maryland paid $31 Million to get out of the ACC and earn more in the Big Ten but it has a Sugar Daddy in Under Armor to add to resources in finding a Great Coach that bring in a Staff & Recruits that be coached into Winning Big under any Re-Branding!

Big Contributors, Coaching, and Top Recruits win any Uniforms!
