4 ships opening up, if no one else leaves:
Nelson-Oddo
Maia
Smith
JRob

and with 3 commits already, are we still trying to add an incoming freshman/juco/grad transfer?
-if so any names out there right now? I saw something about Diagne (was gonna go to 'cuse but had eligibility problems)who's a big playing juco in florida, and i thought i saw something about a canadian high school center?

Daigne is 2017 I believe, I had suggested same, and was corrected.

They've been linked with two bigs, both originally Canadian, Jordy Tshimanga, a wide body at MacDuffie Prep in Mass. And Kalif Young, a lefty at Orangeville Prep in Ontario.

Not sure we'll get either. As ALWAYS happens, size gets overvalued in spring recruiting and a lot of schools are showing interest. Both are 3-star, developmental guys. Tshimanga probably a little more ready, Young maybe more upside.

The Cuse kid has to finish juco to get eligible. He's a '17 guy now.

I'm thinking if we don't get one of the developmental guys, we go 5th year again.

There are only 11 unsigned guys in the Rivals 150 at this point and 4 of them are Top 20 guys we aren't sniffing.

We will probably have 1 or more openings from guys moving on as well. The way Artis and Young are playing I would not be the least bit surprised to see them head to Europe to play or possibly use the Grad Transfer rule.

You could almost get by if you had one guy or the other, and some decent guys around them. Put them on the floor together, and it's bad news.

Additional vacancies particularly at forward would not surprise me. But Young and Artis are not going to be using the Grad Trabsfer rule. Neither redshirted. I doubt either is graduating, which is necessary to use the grad transfer rule.

Are there professional leagues were defense isn't played ! Both guys need to up their games and transferring means sitting out a year. The solution is stay here get better and hope inside help is on the way.

Grad transfer lol- if their classroom iq is like their bball iq, they wont be eligible for a grad transfer. Since neither redshirted they would need to graduate in may...or summer...3 yrs... Nah

What do you think about Jeter and C.Jones when it comes to potential grad transfers?

Because of Donovan Jeter, I doubt Sheldon is going anywhere.

I was thinking Jones might be a 5th year candidate until the last few games, but probably not now. We might need senior leadership, particularly if we lose one or more of the forwards.

Thanks - Even with that, it sounds like you expect other scholarships to open.

At this point, nothing would surprise me. If we crash and burn at the end of two straight seasons, something needs to change and there are $20 million reasons it's not likely to be Dixon.

I was wondering about this angle. Rumors of Sheldon not being happy on the BB squad, even openly rebellious, and how that might affect the younger Jeter's recruitment. He is a pretty important local guy for HCPN.
Seemed like Sheldon bounces from happy to upset, depending on whether he's starting, getting significant minutes, etc. Heard him a couple of times on the post game show, and he seemed pretty content and happy.
Not sure what's going on here?

He's a 21 yr old.
they tend to have up and down emotions.
I wouldn't over analyze this one, he will be here next year for sure.

I think he plays with more fire and effort than Artis in particular, and I think he is pretty Pitt gung ho. Not sure what the supposed attitude stuff are, you never know because the dynamics on this team are pretty shaky.

Two weeks ago I would not have imagined my posting this, but I am not sure it would be a bad thing for Young/Artis to move on, and would almost rather have Jeter back before them.

It amazes me how often Young, Artis and Jeter end up caught in the middle, defending no one.

He can't be that bad. And by that I mean incapable. He's just not interested in playing D and just doesn't.
Hey, at times Jeter is motivated and plays hard. But, sooner or later his concentration seems to wander and he ends up in a different zipcode from his man. This seems worse whie playing zone.

I realize now I didn't state what I meant to say very well. What I was trying to say is that it's not a matter of him being able to play D. There's no way he's that physically lacking - in fact he appears to be a dam good athlete. Not saying he'd ever be a lockdown guy but he just goes off the rails - and as you said - wanders. Or just doesn't give a rat's a$$.

Why would anyone playing ball at that level not care ? Don't you think they all want to play professionally somewhere. This is a job interview. Everyone has +/- 's it's just unfortunate that all Pitts guys the -'s are on defense.

My right shoe plays with more emotion and intensity than artis.

Not always a bad thing.
