I'll preface this post by stating that I'm not happy with how this season has ended up but if one looks objectively at the facts (leaving out the emotion), it becomes much easier to accept.

Facts.....

1. We start three (!!) guys on defense that were not MAC level recruits - Whitehead, Jarrett and Price. If you have MAC level talent, you should expect MAC level results regardless of how good of a defensive coach Narduzzi is. That's reality. To expect anything different is just unrealistic.

2. Injuries - especially to Hendrix (4 star) and Zeise (3 star) killed us. Resulted in the double teaming of Price on every play and having to play a walk-on from NA at LB. At a minimum, we lost the UNC and OSU games as a result. See #1 also - this made things even worse. Not only is there limited talent on defense, there is even less depth.

3. Schedule - we have lost four games - three of them to ranked teams - all of which were down to the wire. This year's schedule was brutal and yet the team was in every game. Look at PSU's schedule vs. ours. We'd have the same record - beating them and having probably lost to OSU.

4. PSU game - I know that it seems like a long time ago but we beat them. Lest we forget.....

5. Recruiting - despite much complaining to the contrary, Narduzzi recruited well last year and is doing ok this year as well. We aren't OSU or Michigan so we therefore have no logical reason to expect recruiting to be at that level. There is talent coming up in the next couple of years and the schedules are nowhere near this difficult.

6. Pitt's administration and support of football in general. This is now clearly in place and needs some time to take hold. We had SIX coaches in a very short period of time. To be this competitive despite that train-wreck is miraculous if you think about it.

I'll conclude by stating that to not support Narduzzi at this point is to suggest that we continue the same merry-go-round that has the program in its current situation. For once, stay the course and support what by all accounts seems to be a guy who is highly regarded by his peers and wants to actually be here.....we will not get a better coach than the one that we have. Support him and the team in the meantime. It will get better if we stay the course.....

By support what exactly do you mean? The results on the field don't indicate any more support than Cornhole and Nerdy provided.

It is alarming that our MAC DBs and MAC LBs cannot be beaten out by Narduzzi's young DB and LB recruits. This is like the Tino argument all over again. Those guys are starting because their backups are much worse and that's downright frightening.

So, the sins of the past regime which run extremely deep, should be rectified in Year 2? Chryst did as much as he could on the offensive side of the ball, obviously the defensive side of the ball was not recruited well.

Narduzzi is working on getting the players needed on defense and offense to bring the program to the next level. Barnes and Gallagher have the back of this staff. They understand the importance of strong athletics programs and the impact that can have on a university.

They are freshmen. Another fact.

Support means not calling for his head (as many on here are) when the facts support our current reality.

Speaking of freshmen, Hamlin had some hiccups yes. But he's far and away the best option to start opposite Maddox.

If state penn can play the sanction card for 4 years because they lost 15 scholarships in 3 years, then pitt can have some time to rebuild the roster after the coaching turnover

Hamlin was right in the pocket of Coley, just couldn't make a play against an excellent receiver.
Yes, first TD was great coverage and a better throw by Kayaa. Second one, should've made a play but oh well. I just don't think you can make any argument that Lewis, motley, or Jackson are a fraction as good at this point in time.

No one with even one good eye could argue that. Motley was decent in spot duty, but just doesn't fight for the ball. The rest are hardly ever close enough to the ball to make a play.

Agreed. Dumb to call for Narduzzi's head at this point, but not dumb to expect improvement in recruiting and on the field. Last years' class was good. This years' class puts us near the bottom of the ACC rankings with Virginia. How many 6'0" 190 lb. linebackers do we need?

The biggest surprise yesterday was that both our lines were absolutely man-handled all game. They got kicked in the teeth and couldn't respond. Why? I don't know. But one thing for is for sure - Miami may be undisciplined and young, but they are bigger, stronger, faster and significantly more athletic than we are across the board. One "ok" recruiting class won't change that.

Slightly disagree . I do not think Miami is significantly better than us. Pitt played horrible . Henderson fumble inside the 15 and Petermans int are 14 pt swings. a lot closer than the score. that said, if I were the team I would be embarrassed how I played yesterday. mental mistakes all over the place. weah drops a sure td. conner had at least two misreads resulting in poor handoffs . I hate when similar talented teams we lose to ...

Reasoned opinions are sometimes hard to find on this board. Appreciate this contribution.

Go Pitt.

Good post. PITT had so many mistakes that are within their control yesterday. The back to back to back plays of Weah dropping an easy TD pass, failure to make an easy catch on special teams to pin Miami deep inside their own 5, then the fumble by Henderson really turned the tide of the game. Not to mention the horrible game by Peterman where there should have been INTs. PITT simply played their WTF game of the season.

With that said, the most disappointing play was the Miami RB, who should have been dropped for a loss, ran through at least 7 tackles.

He got beat for a few TD's by Miami's best WR Coley...who will play in the NFL. Hamlin was in good position just didn't make the plays

Your points are well taken. I do like the Duzz, I just can't understand the ease at which teams are passing on this team. Oh well I'm sure he has a long term plan. I've been watching since before Majors 1 so I've seen it all and I've calmed down after yesterdays game.
