With Horton, 5 more regular season ACC wins since we are talking about true progress. That's aiming a bit high, but I think is the answer if we are to say we have turned the corner. However, 4 acc wins and a few acc tournament wins would also be satisfactory too to say we are turning the corner instead of rounding the corner.

If they aren’t +/- 1 against .500 then jeff unquestionably needs to go. I don’t see more than 3/4 wins. We’re playing a lot of teams that’ll be fighting for one of the ACCs 3/4 tournament seeds.

I think a winning record down the stretch shows progress, so I went 6-5. Agree with DC though on what is likely.

Progress hasn’t been made in 4 calendar years with this embarrassment of a staff…nobody gives a shit what happens the rest of the way, We will win a couple more “moral boost” games against below average teams and you guys will want to extend Capel until 2030, it doesn’t matter, he has proven how terrible he is at coaching basketball and getting players to this university, he will be gone

If I understand the question right, that means he thinks Pitt needs to go 8-3 to show progress.
Whoopsie. I totally whiffed on that one. Believe it or not I actually read the OP yet somehow thought that was someone’s prediction.

Apparently I don’t need any mind altering substances. Or any more. You be the judge.

Since I believe that JC will be given another yr winning 4 or 5 of the remaining games will allow them to hit the ground running in the portal transfer race . Turning the corner will only be accomplished with better players .

I guess anything better than 3-6 from here on out is technically progress. Still, I selected 5-6. An 8-12 conference record is certainly not good, but it would be our best under Capel.

I'm still having trouble taking any of this seriously, because I don't really see who on this roster would be part of our future. Yeah, some guys will be back next year. But that's kind of just another mash unit patchwork team, and then a lot of those guys will be moving on.

We're not building a program at all right now. We're just piecing together a pickup team every offseason, I guess. I get that the dynamic has changed in general, but one high school recruit in two years is just stupid.

Over .500 rest of the way AND we need to win some games against any of UNC/Duke/Miami/FSU/VT/Wake. And even those teams stink for the most part. But we can’t just beat up on GT and BC and call it progress

We basically have our team for next year… just swap out Mo for Nike (Mo much more valuable).

So I don’t see how 4-7 is progress….

@FireballZ thinks we are funny!
I am just trying to be objective, to the point of playing a little of the "devil's advocate", but we should all know that HL really would like to see this go in a direction to allow for Capel to stay.

I feel fairly certain that she has resigned herself to the fact that the program is nowhere close to what she envisioned when Capel was hired & that a coaching change is inevitable.

I dont see any valid reasons to continue with Capel as HC beyond this year. They should still let the season play out, and hope for a turnaround, but it's becoming obvious that the results needed to give legitimate hope for the future is beyond this team's capability.

What I really expect is wining 3-4 more for 6-14 or 7-13 ACC (11-20 or 12-19 overall) heading into the ACCT.

Despite this outcome I see Capel getting one more year.

IMHO, he would have to only win 0 or 1 more to finish with a Stallings-like single digit win season to be canned sooner.

Just a personal opinion.
