Remember Buddy Ball? Time for the return of Wanny Ball!!

Let’s hire someone who hasn’t coached in 11 years that had an average record of 7-5 in his earlier tenure at a much younger age. That’s a brilliant idea. On par for you.

If we’re bringing somebody back from 13 years ago, hopefully it’s Dan Lanning.

At this point I'd take anyone over awful Narduzzi and Wanny is a better coach than him anyways. It makes perfect sense!!

Only Pitt fans would be happy to trade completely mediocre for thoroughly mediocre and think that it was some sort of upgrade.

Wannstedt coached 3 Pro Football Hall of Famers and couldn’t even win the Big East.

Did you forget his 9-4 record followed by 10-3? He was finally crushing WPIAL recruiting too. He'd run circles around awful Narduzzi.
He was crushing the WPIAL at the end alright. He lost Hull, Jones, Dieffenbach, Ricketts, and Graham to PSU all in one year prior to his last season at Pitt.

I remember that his average record at Pitt was 7.0-5.2 compared to Narduzzi's 7.0-5.5, against the greatly weakened Big East.

Seriously, if you love Wanny how can you not love Narduzzi? Similar records, similar blockheads.

I feel like Wanny was finally getting Pitt to that higher level, I think the last 3 seasons his teams finished 2nd twice and 1st in the Big East. Wanny had a 26-12 overall record his last 3 seasons at Pitt.

Meanwhile Narduzzi is spiraling to levels not seen since JMII. 15 losses the past 2 seasons screams change.

I will say this - I would have liked to have seen them win the Cincy game and see where it went. But Wanny is a bonehead too. I don’t get too emotional over a game these days one way or another but talking about that cincy game makes my blood boil to this day. 15 years later. Up 31-10. AT HOME. FFS.

21-0 at home we were up against Cincy I remember.

Petting II
Edsall II
Schiano II
RichRod II

Just need Wanny II, Kelly II, and Jim Leavitt II. I'm here for it.

As much as I like Wanny, we got a glimpse of how that’d go when we hired his old offensive coordinator. It did not go well.

His last team went 7-5 in a Big East that did not have even one team ranked in the final poll of the season.

His brand of mediocrity is no better than Narduzzi's brand, except that he is a yinzer through and through, and for some reason that really matters to some people.

In fact in looking at it a little closer, that was 7-5 against a schedule that did not have even one team that ended the season ranked on it. Not just no Big East teams ranked, none of the non-conference opponents ended up ranked either. Miami ended up 7-6 that year. Notre Dame ended up 8-5. Utah ended up 10-3 but not ranked. And we couldn't beat any of them anyway.

Mediocrity? It’s a Pitt thing.

All we’d be doing is rearranging deck chairs on a midsized ocean liner fighting bankruptcy.
