Went to Louisville, never played. Now at Grand Canyon averaging 3 PPG. A lot of those early targets Capel was going after never panned out. Another was Tyrese Samuel, who has averaged 3, 5, and 8 at SHU.

I mean talk about all-time misses. Top 25 recruit who is basically RMU-level. Probably wouldn't be dominant in PSAC. I thought misevaluating Jeffress was bad but this is worse. Kids ranked that high, you figure at least can be contributors at a P6 but nope.
I am not blaming Capel for this though. Igiehon was highly rated. It is amazing how off sometimes these ratings are. Too much projection.
Seems like lots of coaches misevaluated him
As did the internet ranking systems
He had 21 offers from really great programs - plenty currently in the top 25
What is really sad for me personally. I went back and looked at that class. And either alot of this is because I don't follow college basketball as much as I used to, or part of it is these guys come and go that fast, I had a hard time looking up and down that top 150 list to see who actually made some impact. There are alot, and I mean ALOT of names on there I have drawn complete blanks on.
There were a lot of players like this in the portal last season.
Many former Pitt targets were transferring down.
Somethat landed at good programs are not seeing much time.

Yes. Not sure I've ever seen a Top 25 kid be a D2/NEC level player though. People complain about Dante Taylor and yes, he was overrated but he was a legitimate 4 year contributor for good teams. Maybe he should have been ranked 150 or so. This Igiehon dude wasnt a Top 750 player.
Extremely highly rated bigs NEVER are D2/NEC level. Worst-case scenario is usually Dante Taylor, who was still a P6 level player.
