I’m not gonna look up the exact date but I remember it being at least 13/14 years ago I think 08 maybe? We won 82-77 and were down 11 with like 3 minutes left…Sam stole the inbounds pass and Layed it in and the rest was history…Gilbert Brown played AWESOME and was drilling treys at the end as a freshman…our baby boy Keith Benjamin played tough solid ball as always (though his shot selection was frustrating his entire career) loved Keith…of course Levance and Ronny Ramon played big roles…I just remembered it because we absolutely crushed the entire dome and that Paul Harris, Jonny Flynn led Cuse team…I was about 13 years old and I was ELATED! Hence the name, those are my old days :/ LETS GET A W TONIGHT!

I rewatched that game many times. March 1, 2008. Pitt went down 11 with 3:43 to go.

Gilbert hit two threes during the run, first to cut it to 6, and later to cut it to one. On the next trip, Gilbert drove the baseline and put up what looked like a wild shot. Turns out he was poked in the eye badly and was getting it up to get the fouls shots, but ref Bob Donato missed the call that was right in from of him.

But then Sam tipped the subsequent inbounds pass lose and got it to Keith who made the layup to put Pitt ahead. Then Jimmy B melted down.

Panthers ended the game on an 18-2 run.

Also incredible was the comeback from 14 down midway though the second half in the Dome during the 2001-2002 season. Chad Johnson started the comeback with his own 6 point run.

Those teams in the very start of the 2000s are my very first memories of Pitt hoops, off topic but my all time favorite panther is Black Magic :)

I started in 80-81 with Lennie McMillian, Dwayne Wallace, Clyde off the bench, Dr. Roy, the 1-3-1 zone with 6-3 guard Carlton Neverson running the baseline, and of course, Sam BAM Clancy.

What Syracuse game was it when on a Saturday afternoon at the dome Chevy Troutman starts playing center in the second half and he gobbles up a pile of points and rebounds and Pitt wins big

I know they lost the game, but Lamar had a game up there where he almost singlehandedly won the game in the second half. I feel like there was a point where he hit 3 or 4 threes in a row to cut down a ten point lead to a tie?

I think that was the first of two games they played against ‘Cuse in 2013-2014. Second game was the one where Ennis hit a half court shot to win the game.

Speaking of Carl. When we were in Atlanta for the bowl game, we took an Uber from our hotel to downtown Atlanta. We had all of our Pitt gear on and the driver said, “you guys from Pitt, I had a good buddy who went to Pitt?”. We asked who and he said Carl Krauser and then of course I gave him the “X”. Well, this guy was originally from the Bronx and used to play ball with Carl when they were younger. He said back then that Carl was not that good and a little pudgy. As Carl got older and got better, he had a list of all the guys that used to whip his ass when he was younger. Carl started calling all of these guys and as he would beat them, he’d cross them off the list and move on to the next guy. Our guy was on the list and Carl beat him 21-2.

I remember that distinctly, I was keeping an eye on my 7 year old niece who was minding her own business playing on the floor. When that furious ending happened I was yelling and freaking out then when it was over I looked down and she was staring at me like I was nuts. Then she said "you are yelling like a little girl". She was right.
