As a student assistant on the 1980-81 Robert Morris men’s basketball team we recruited to stud guards Forest Grant and Chipper Harris. Both played on state championship teams, were extremely talented and instantly became the best players on a bad team.
Although they made us competitive immediately, it took another year of recruiting to get us over the hump. Johnson and McGowens remind me of Grant and Harris, Our first couple of league games didn’t go well that year but by the end of the season you could see the future had arrived already.
So be patient this year folks the foundation has been laid.
