Report: Pitt vs Wisconsin at Ireland in 2027; vs RMU at Acrisure in 2028

What??? Our scheduling people will NEVER learn. We want Wofford, UNH and Slippery rock so we can start 3-0 before we get de-pantsed by mediocre P5 teams.
How would you like to work in the AD's office and try to peddle season tickets for that parade of Tomato cans.

Lolololol. I hated the Wisconsin series to begin with. Its a 100% guaranteed loss on the road and a 90% guaranteed loss at home for a few thousand extra tickets, no buzz, and no stength of schedule points. I am sure the Ireland promoters are paying us a nice sum but what an all-time scheduling L. Heather has done a really poor job of football scheduling. Next will be home and homes with Texas Tech and Washington. And the UConn series is stupid AF

Wisconsin isn’t scary at all. They play no one most years, and got smacked by Wash St. when they stepped out of their comfort zone this year.

Pitt will recover from the Nardiuzzi/Cignetti/Jurk nadir by 2027.

Hey, I’d take a series with Washington. I’d probably make that trip as well; what a beautiful stadium they have along the water in Seattle.

Yea but what I mean is we keep scheduling these no-buzz games. No extra ticket sales. Guaranteed loss on the road. Probable loss at home. Stop doing it!

Our OOC should be:
Duquesne or RMU
MAC
CUSA or Sun Belt
WVU

True. Give me WVU and then go really big (blue blood) or really small (FCS). As you mention, lots to lose but not much to gain in between.

What's the point of playing in Ireland against Wisconsin. I know that Wisconsin has a lot of Irish heritage going in, but the people in Ireland don't care about this game. Makes sense if it were Pitt vs. Notre Dame, but Wisconsin?

I'm assuming it's the big giant check that the game organizers will write us.

My problem with it will be if that changes the Wisconsin series from a two game, home and home, to a two game, one at their place and one in Ireland series. Unless by playing them over there we get to keep all the extra money. Which seems unlikely.

BTW, Florida State and Georgia Tech are scheduled to play in Ireland next year.

They must be trying to make this a yearly event.

Maybe it will be paired with a Steelers game there?

It surprises me that with Pitt’s long football history, Pitt has never played Alabama, Auburn, Colorado or LSU.

Pitt last played Michigan in 1947 and Ohio State in 1996. You want Acrisure sold out, there you go. Probably have to do a 2 there 1 here arrangement.

"We". 🤣 🤣
Right. I’ve been on the Pitt board(s) since Al Gore invented the internet, two guys named Harry G Psaros and Crazy Paco started this $hit, AOL was the host, it took 10 minutes to load a page of messages and it was all Pitt recruiting news. It’s been a guilty pleasure and colossal waste of precious time ever since.

But you figured out my fiendish secret Ballz-I’m really not a Pitt fan. And here I always just took you for that simpleton who only speaks emoji. .

Sherlock Ballz and his Watson: Dick Handler of Men’s Pants. Has a nice ring to it.

Maybe the ACC is planning on expanding with some Irish schools? Are there any Portuguese schools with solid brands?

so how many more fans attended Oklahoma State than would have attended Kent? Do you honestly think it moved the needle? Hint, I was there, it didn't.

Maybe 1000 more. These games don't move the needle at all. Much better to schedule Kent or RMU than Wisky or Ohio State. Had we played Kent instead of Cincy and Ohio instead of WVU (and Im not saying scheduling WVU is bad, but Cincy is), we would have been 3-0 with some fake buzz and we'd be 3-2 now with at least hopes to get to a bowl. It is so stupid to play these no-buzz games vs Cincy, Wis, OK St, UConn, etc.

I think the assumption right now is we may not be bowl eligible so it's like a bowl trip.

What's 3.5 hours of national exposure and publicity on ESPN worth for a college and football program versus none at all playing Kent State?

you mean when they flashed the sign saying students who stayed until the end of the game got a free beverage? That's the exposure you liked? I'll take an anonymous win, and when we are 4-0 playing North Carolina I'll take some national buzz for that game

I am now thinking that part of this Ireland game is that the road game at Wisconsin will be canceled, which would be great news so hopefully we can get Kent or Buffalo or UMass on the schedule instead. I can't see us playing at Wisconsin and then playing our home game in Ireland. Maybe this was some compromise by Heather to get out of this ridiculously stupid series. Now hopefully she can get out of the UConn series. Maybe play 1 game in Yankee Stadium instead of the loss she scheduled in East Hartford.

If the team is good, they’re good. If they’re not, they’re not.

Not one time will Pitt ever be elevated to a CFP position because they beat Kent State by 40. Cupcake home matchups are so incredibly boring to me.

Schedule as many interesting OOC games as possible. I love these games.

Also traveling on the road for interesting Pitt games is a ton of fun. Tennessee, Wisconsin, even Cincy next year- these are all highlights to me. One of these in addition to a traditional rival (WVU, PennSt, ND), are my favorite types of Pitt schedules.

i'd rather play RMU at moon, their stadium is big enough to support the 5,000 fans that will actually go to this game. plus, we can pre-game at wings, suds and spuds..

More likely the home game here will be canceled. The game in Madison will make more money, so they aren't getting rid of that. Why would Wisconsin make this deal, otherwise?

Maybe the B10 will be going to 10 conference games? It makes no sense to schedule these 2 losses, neither at home. Maybe Heather is trying to sabotage football to have more money for volleyball

Why would Wisconsin be an automatic loss? Put Pitt in the B1G West and they win it most years, hell they'd have a shot at it this year.

Pitt is literally 5-20 in these September home and home non-conference games and has only won 2 on the road and both were due to 1st Round offensive players (Fitz A&M and Pickett/Addison Ten). There is a 0.0000% chance we win in Madison. Probably a negative percent chance if that's possible. And we werent going to beat them at home and definitely not in Dublin. Horrible scheduling decision. Hopefully, its just the one-off game in Dublin and we can play Buffalo instead of taking the L in Madison.
