Obviously, I am sorry to see Addison go. Great talent and likely would have helped Pitt considerably this coming season. However, if he had anything close to a decent season, he was leaving for the NFL. So, I am not going to lose my mind over his leaving or have disparaging words toward him and just be thankful for his contribution to the most successful Pitt football team since the early eighties.

It‘s a cliche of course, but “don’t hate the player, hate the game.” I think it rings true here. Addison is merely taking advantage of the rules to do something he wants to do, whether that’s getting a multi - million NIL deal, experiencing something new and fun in LA, playing with Caleb Williams and for arguably one of the best offensive football minds today in Lincoln Riley, moving on from a team where he lost his NFL QB and OC where he was the focal point of the offense, or just wanting to date one of the cheerleaders in those classic sweaters. I would imagine it’s a combination of all of that.

However, I am not worried about Pitt. I like where we are at right now. Narduzzi, the staff, and players are a resilient bunch. The “we not me” resonates as a truism with this program and not just a fad catch phrase. Pitt has established a family atmosphere in the program and the coaches and players will step up for each other. Also, thanks to Narduzzi and the staff, we have recruited well and made prudent transfer acquisitions ourselves.

I am confident that Cignetti will scheme well around the loss of Addison aside from just running the ball a little more. Also, there have been rave reviews of Konata Mumpfield. Maybe Addison did not want to share the spotlight. We also have other receivers who can step up and do more. So I look forward to watching them do it this fall.

I am disappointed that Addison did not want to stay and pursue the playoff with his former Pitt brothers, but I am not bitter about it and thank him for his contribution in helping get us to where we are at this point. Good luck to him in pursuing his dreams and certainly our Panthers as they pursue their goal. Let’s go Pitt!
