Reynolds to Pitt

What does this mean?
It means that the recruiting individuals who assign stars do not first of all know who’s going to enter the transfer portal and then when they do they are scrambling to keep up with who’s who and what the talent of each is. Much different with high school kids as they are playing games their sophomore junior and senior seasons where they can evaluate more readily. You might not understand this…. Haha

Let’s review what we have learned so far on this thread….

We have a 4 star player out of high school that had multiple scholarship offers from P5 schools. He sits on the bench, not because the players in front him are good, it’s because he sucks….

If Pitt had landed Reynolds straight out of high school, he would have been a great get because the gym teachers and the sports nerds on the websites know more about football than the coaches that are recruiting him….

When he finally gets a starting opportunity, he has a great game, not because he’s any good, it’s because the team they were playing (Vanderbilt) sucks.

Some of you guys are pathetic…

Trask was throwing to two 1st round pass-catchers, a 2nd round guy, and a dude who has played in 37 games for the Seahawks in 2 years. He had two NFL RBs in Pierce and Perine. Plus he got to play a full season and the entire Big Ten and Pac 12 didn't. He's nothing if Justin Fields gets 12 games that year. He's Stetson Bennett without the wins.

I wasn't the one who brought up Mullen but since you did he went 29th, 22nd, and 13th in scoring with 3 legit upperclassman NFL players. That's hardly impressive given what he was working with and the oddities of the 2020 COVID season.

His 2020 offense ranked 5th overall in F+. It was an elite offense.

As is said, Mullen’s problem was recruiting. Particularly at WR. Napier than has to work with those WRs last year and it showed. UF had almost next to nothing.

Yes, not every player ends up being as good as their high school ranking.

Yes, UF had one of the worst WR units in P5 football. And he was buried in the depth chart of that unit.

Yes, the coaches know more about football than you...

Yes, you are the first one to complain about Pitt not recruiting enough 4 star players to keep up with teams like Miami, yet Pitt has won more games...

And yes, you are a troll...

What I learned from this thread……..when one of the 1st posts in the thread characterizes it as a ‘big time’ get, it will predictably lead to what this thread became.

Considering our current WR corp, I’d call it a good get and maybe a promising get. Time will tell but as of now, no basis to call it a big time get.

People on this thread are hilarious. We all root for the same team but spend countless time arguing over the semantics of whether this young man qualifies as a "big time get." How about the fact that we lost a bunch of experienced offensive players to the draft or portal this year and it's nice to bring some experienced P5 players back in with high pedigree. This kid has 3 years left. I personally think this is a great get that compliments the others receivers we have. This is of course my opinion so if anyone disagrees have at it...

Well, if coaches know more than anyone, then this kid sucks by your Logic…. Correct?

Which coaches know more than me? The UF coaches that didn’t play him?

I have no idea what your second point means? He’s not a 4* player as currently ranked.

No owt, It means that the coaches feel the players in front of him are better. That doesn’t mean that he sucks. If the Pitt coaches didn’t think he could help the team, they wouldn’t offer.

You have certain trolls who constantly criticize the kind of recruits the coaches bring in. In one breath they will tell you that Pitt needs more 4 Star players in order to compete in the ACC with Miami, UNC, etc….

In the next breath, they will tell you that:

“not every player ends up being as good as their high school ranking.”

Who decides which players can help the team??? The coaches, that’s who…

He was certainly a big time get, it is the same old negative ninnies, possibly trolls from other team fanbases that are littering this thread as well

Beat it punk

Our coaches, who have been recruiting mostly three stars, have won 20 games in the last two seasons. Suck it

And have been really good in identifying talent in the transfer portal. Actually, the only semi misses (like Slovis, who certainly is not a miss) was over hyped guys we actually landed. The other guys we land seem to be extremely talented and help the team.
