I'm really rooting for RMU to upset 'Bama. They're giving them all they can handle right now. I'd hate to think what RMU would do to Pitt this year. Or what they'd do to many ACC teams.

Remember when I said a few weeks ago Pitt needs to get Dickerson? The dude is a winning player. Tough game for Folguieras and Woods but we need all 3.

The refs are giving Bama some gifts. RMU shouldn't be a 15 seed and Bama doesn't look anywhere near a 2.

RMU is impressive. Ball movement, defense, rebounding. The fundamentals. I'd give anything to get Dickerson here and somehow get Andy Toole as our head coach. That dude knows how to coach.

Dickerson may have priced himself out of Pitt today. I love that guy. He is a Dixon type player

You have zero clue what you are talking about. Pitt would’ve been a 6-7 point favorite on a neutral court. That may not be what current results say, but that is what the power ratings say.

That's right but only based on metrics skewed by November. RMU is legitimately better than Pitt.

Well they are certainly playing much better right now but that has nothing to do with the betting line. Try hanging RMU -5 over Pitt and see what happens.

And Pitt would have lost to RMU by 20. RMU only lost to 'Bama by 9. So you're telling me that Pitt would have been a 6-7 point favorite over RMU? I don't give a rat's ass about your power ratings, whatever those are. I'm talking reality. Get back to me when you're back in reality.

You lecturing me over betting lines is comical.

That was a fantastic effort by RMU. They proved they are a team that deserved to be in the NCAAT. Compared to Pitt, they have better players and are much better coached and are better than we are in all facets of the game. Congrats to them for a fine effort.

I'm not lecturing you on betting lines because I don't care about betting lines. Betting lines are the comical thing as are those who believe in them.

I didn't start this thread to have some jabroni talking about how much he knows about betting lines. I don't care! I wanted to start a discussion about how good RMU is and to root for them to beat 'Bama. That's all. If you want to talk about betting lines, start your own thread on that subject.

Well that hurts, because that was my career and how I made, and to some degree still make my livelihood. So I guess we will leave it at that.

The refs definitely were putting their thumbs on the scale in favor of 'Bama. But it didn't hide the fact that RMU is legitimately a very good team that belongs in the NCAAT. They're much better than a 15 seed.

I'm just trying to enjoy watching some basketball. That's all. Like I said, I don't care about betting lines because I don't bet or gamble. If that's what you do, great. Start a thread about betting and betting lines. Maybe we could learn something.

Alabama was 21.5 pt favorite. If you don't think Pitt would be a smaller underdog on a neutral floor vs Alabama. I don't know what to tell you. Betting lines are started by power rankings. Pitt most certainly power ranks higher than RMU. Having said that if they played right now I'm on RMU moneyline.

The betting line takes into account the whole season. Pitt was very good early and RMU was very bad so the entire season's worth of data favors Pitt. If there was a computer virus that wiped out all data before Jan 4 and there was a national amnesia plague where everyone forgot what happened in those 2 months, RMU would be favored because they were legitimately better than Pitt the last 2 months.

I had a serious discussion with myself during the RMU game. Do I give up my Pitt season tickets in favor of RMU season tickets? The majority of their games were very much more entertaining than Pitt’s. Seriously bandied that around for a while. RMU really needs the support of the community. Way too many games of theirs where there might’ve been 200 people there.

They are probably going to lose everyone but their top 6 players are eligible to return. If they did, they could potentially be a Top 25 team and/or one of those 11/12 NCAAT teams who can mess around and make a Sweet 16. If they returned everyone, I may buy season tickets.

You probably missed this from a little while ago, but he has no idea what he is talking about on this topic. He posted before the Pitt - Georgia Tech game that Georgia Tech was going to be favored by four or five points. I told him he was crazy, that Pitt was going to be favored by 6 or 7. Pitt ended up being favored by 8-1/2. And then when the game was over he came back to that thread a crowed that he got it right. In reality, of course, he missed it by 12-1/2 points. Which is a ridiculously large amount to miss a point spread by.

But it became more and more obvious that he had/has no idea what it means to say a team is favored. He thinks that the team he thinks is going to win the game is the favorite. It's actually kind of comical that someone could be a sports fan in 2025 and have no idea what a point spread is or what saying a team is going to be favored means, but here we are.

Pitt was such an easy team to make money on because their Nov/Dec play through the metrics out of whack. I agreed that that was what Pitt would be favored by but only because their Nov/Dec showed the public how good they can be. In reality, GT was better but you can't make them a favorite because Pitt had a strongish resume

Saying that a team is a favorite means something. Neither you or I, or anyone else here, determines that. It's pretty clear that when 1985 says "I think Team X will be the favorite" that what he really means is "I think Team X will win the game". And everyone knows those are two different things.

Except him.

Like I said, he actually gloated about saying Georgia Tech was going to be favored by four in a game that they were an 8-1/2 point underdog. Someone who knows literally nothing at all about college basketball probably could have made a random guess and gotten closer than that.
