Coach Pat Narduzzi had his signature win over Clemson the No 2 Ranked Team in the Nation at "Death Valley" before a home crowd of 81,048 in attendance. The Tigers had not lost a home game since Oct.19, 2013.

Ron Cook who has written many articles in the PPG critical of Pitt when they have suffered a tough loss did not mention this signature win.

Ron Cook's article in PPG "Two Super Bowl wins over Dallas made Steelers "Team of the 70s"".

Talking about the past Team of the 70s.

Hey Ron maybe you can write about this signature Pitt win in your article appearing in the PPG in 2050.

LOL!!!!

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Cook is a hemorrhoid on an a-hole. But that column was planned far in advance of the Pitt/Clemson game. Neither local paper sent a columnist to Clemson... beat writers only.

What you'll probably hear that d*ckhead Cook talking about on Monday on the radio is how Penn State should definitely be in the discussion for playing in the CFP.

to his credit, Cook only writes if he attends a game live. I remember when a-hole writer turned blogger Smizik commented about the mood of the team after a loss from the comforts of his living room....yeah Bob, you really garnered that by being around the team, conducting interviews, etc.

But for better or worse (probably better), Cook rarely travels to away games, unless maybe Miami or some warm weather location in November. And he rarely goes to State College unless it is for the healing game. Hopefully he will hang it up soon.

Bashing columnists / announcers is not uniquely a Yinzer thing although it is a hallmark of Pittsburgh sports fans. Whether it's bashing Smizik or even Howard Cossell because he didn't show enough Stiller halftime highlights on MNF. Always found it amusing and sometimes, weird.

Haha, I know right that is so weird . It's like that one time that some poster made fun of another poster for being upset with local writers not writing about the hometown teams by comparing him with a non-local TV person from like 1920 and clips about the steelers? Total whack job huh.

Or that one time a poster with like 20 post came on asking where another poster has been even though they both are only on this website for like a month and a half because he misses the way he used to post all the time

Cook is an OP/ED writer, not a beat writer. His assignment this weekend was the Steelers Cowboys game. He didn't go to Pitt/Clemson and he only writes about games he attends.

He doesn't really care about college football. He love, love, LOVES him some Stillers though.

Which is something that too many people just don't get. Cook doesn't sit down in the morning and say to himself "gee, what should I write about today?" Or even better, wait until late into the night to say "well what was the most interesting thing that happened today, I'll write about that?" Cook gets told by his editor what he is going to write about. He gets told by his editor which games he is going to attend. Surely Cook gets some leeway, for instance maybe he went to the editor and said to him "hey, Stillers versus Cryboys on Sunday, how about I write a piece on the rivalry from the 70s?" But it is still up to his boss to say yes, good idea or no, we need you to write about the Pitt - Clemson game or we need you to write about the Pens - Maple Leafs game.

The notion that Cook sat there at 8:00 last night and said to himself, "well, I better get cracking, I've got to write something for the Sunday paper, what should I write about" is absurd. His column was written before the Pitt game even started, so that it could appear in the Saturday night version of the Sunday paper.

I'm glad the 'refuse to believe' forlorn repetitive Ron didn't. And really nothing Pitt fb from him can be taken as unbiased since his public tirade after bradley was passed over by Pitt twice by other coordinators.

I really don't care about Cook or the PG. I cancelled my subscription 3 years ago.

To be fair Cook writes those articles in advance for the Sunday edition.

That being said he is still a idiot.

You're beating a dead horse, sports writers do NOT support Pitt, sounded like Pompiani was more excited about the psu win yesterday then the Pitt win, sport people in Pittsburgh the announcers, writers just flat out do not care for Pitt, still talkin about psu and wvu being local teams, OSU should be called a local team too just as far maybe even closer, so if you're waiting for Pittsburgh sports people to embrace Pitt, forget about it!

Almost the entirety of your comment is hogwash. Cook and Collier CHOOSE their trips and typically they alternate. Are you trying to suggest that a veteran columnist isn't capable of running 750 words on a game that not only was broadcast nationally, not only has garnered national attention and response, but was also over by 8pm?

You are correct that Jerry Micco has a great deal to say with respect to the content. But the columnists are given MUCH more latitude on their subject matter, especially when it comes to unexpected or attention worth results. It's utter laziness and transparent bias on Cook's part.

Bob Pompeani and Kdka are very Pitt friendly.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Cook and Collier don't chose what games they go cover. And it's funny that you claim that they alternate trips literally seven days after both of them went to the Stillers game in Baltimore. Or the day after neither of them went to the Pitt game, which not coincidentally came eight days after neither of them went to the Pitt game in Miami. Which isn't surprising, because neither of them has been to a Pitt road game in a long, long time.

Cook and Collier cover what their boss tells them to. Neither of them wrote about the Pitt game last night because they were given different assignments and they had already written their columns for the day.
