I like many, am leaving monday morning around 6am to drive to annapalis for the game leaving from moon township area. I found out that the parkway East will be closed that morning and that was the way google wants me to go to catch the turnpike to breezewood to 70.

What is the better/quicker option go 79 north catch turnpike down. Or drive to Washington pa and catch 70 east there? Any other thoughts

79 south to 70 east to new Stanton exit. Watch at new Stanton cause its a quick off ramp and the on ramp [ from turnpike ] is right in front of your exit

I travel to Annapolis frequently. Here's how I go:

Get on 70 at Washington, PA. Take 70 to New Stanton, then take PA Tpk. East to Breezewood. Then follow 70 E all the way to 29 S (towards Columbia, MD). 29 S to 32 E (past Fort Meade). 32 E to 97 S to Annapolis.

Your gps probably can't find the route since you spell the destination incorrectly

Go south to 70, east to Breezewood on the Tpk. follow 70 towards Baltimore. Go South on Rt. 29 (Ellicott City) to RT 100. East to I97 to ANPLS. You'll avoid the Beltway.....and the Pgh tunnels. I make it to Anpls in 4:15 from Wexford...no strain. You will see some congestion around Frederick, where I270 heads off to DC. I've done it dozens of times.

Didn't see yours before posting. My trip uses 100 to get to I97. Probably not much difference.

NTOP, the only difference is that 100 at times gets a bit more more BWI traffic. Distance/time-wise it's about the same. Either way will get you there just fine. The main thing is - as you pointed out - this general route avoids the Beltway when coming from the west. My trip from Johnstown is usually right around 3:30 depending on traffic.

Safe travels to everyone. Looking forward to the game and hope to see a lot of Pitt fans and friends there. Annapolis is a great town. Navy is as classy an opponent as anyone could ask for. Should be a lot of fun.

So heading 79 south to 70 east, thanks i hope this thread helps some others out for thier trip. Thanks
