Ryan Luther =

I love that he can shoot the 3. Looks like the kind of player that Wisconsin has had for years. Can play with his back to the basket and can also step out and shoot.

Isn't he 0-for-the year from the arc?? No treys made since Hawaii?? I like the kid's game...but he's not a sniper.

I think the post the other day claiming he was the worst recruit of the Dixon era to be maybe the single stupidest post on this forum. The kid is a talent and is the prototypical Dixon/Pitt player who gets better every year.

Never saw it, must have been deleted. Never heard of that poster either.

Dixon has always made his money by coaching kids up. It doesn't always work, but most of our best players have followed that route.

PItt hoops fans should know better than to make such statements early in kids careers.. I wanted to quit being a pitt fan watching Wanamaker play as a freshman and even a sophomore.. Two years later, I wanted Pitt to build a statue of him..

I also recall many, including SMF, saying he should transfer after his freshman year.

he is playing much better around the hoop than I expected. I think his 3 point shooting will improve a lot.
kid hustles, runs, plays smart. don't really know who to compare him with yet, but I like what I am seeing.

I didnt say he SHOULD. I've always liked him. I said he could possibly transfer if he doesn't see himself getting a lot of PT as a soph or junior. Hundreds of players do that every year. Good to see he had confidence in his game and put the work in. He is going to be an important player for 3 years.

He's got a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way to go before anyone should compare him to Chevy. And a long way to go before Donatao comparisons. That team was from Detroit, but it wasn't the Pistons.

I can see even Donatos in him as far as his ability to step out and shoot the 3.

Yeah that was why Biggs always crossed my mind. Perimeter oriented post who rebounds well and can defend the 4 and 5. Zavackas never was a great rebounder, Luther seems to be a bit better there.

If he can shoot like Zavackas and defend/rebound like Biggs I think that's the best case scenario for sure.

I really think Luther should be starting at the 5. Seems to be our best offensive option there and is very tough while he is also the only one defensively who hasn't been in foul trouble most of this season early on. If not the starter, he at least should be an option off the bench who gets a ton of minutes at the 4 and 5 positions.

He cannot defend the 5. At least not at this point.

He needs to learn how to front. He's taking a fronting position too far from the basket.

He did OK against Detroit though. And Gonzaga's bigs are going to give most people some problems.

Donatas may not have been a great rebounder but it "seemed" to me like he was great at boxing out his man so others could get rebounds. I wonder if there's a stat for that!
