Saban (post-game interview): "When we play really good teams the runs aren't going to be so easy."

Just in case anyone thinks he actually has an ounce of respect for Tennessee... he doesnt.

Did anyone see the stats in that game? I mean Alabama TRIED to let the air out and just run... Tennessee couldnt stop them. 450 yards rushing for Alabama!!! Just incredible. And Tennessee was supposed to be a top 10 team???

They should have lost to App St and Georgia.

I agree they are not nearly as good as their ranking and are damn lucky not to have 2 more losses. I am a UT grad and don't sugar coat it they are overrated. To their defense they are missing like 7 starters due to injury but injuries are part of the game and Alabama is just way better than them. Don't forget Lane Kiffin would rather stick it to UT more than anyone as he's hated there but no doubt UT is overrated and Alabama is damn good. I'm pretty sure if Pitt played them 49-10 would be pretty close to the outcome and not hating on Pitt just being realistic. Anyone who can make the trip to Knoxville when Pitt plays there in 4 years or so it's worth the trip.

Why does Saban dissing Tennessee surprise you those 2 teams are the biggest rivals in the SEC. Saban infuriated Auburn fans earlier this year by saying the TN game is the one they look forward more than any other. If you knew anything about the injuries the rushing yards shouldn't be a shock at all they are playing guys that would never see the field if not for all these injuries. Again not using that as excuse but they aren't playing with first teamers. Even if they had they would have gotten beat 28-10 at least.

LMAO. Tennessee had won 11 straight games going into last week's game against Texas A&M. They were 17 points away from being undefeated last year. Sure, they have a couple of close wins in games where they did not play well. They also have an 17 point win over Florida and a 21 point win over Virginia Tech. To say they shoudn't be ranked is freakin comical.

BTW, The Vols are banged up. They are a lot better than the team they put out there against Alabama. 2 of their starters out were 1st team All-SEC preseason.

Who'd they beat last this or this year to warrant a preseason top ten ranking?
The sec east stinks.

And if moral victories counted, Pitt would be top ten every year.

They beat UGA last year & this year. They hammered Northwestern in a bowl game. The won decisively over VaTech & Florida. They played toe to toe with Bama last year and lost in 2 or 3 OTs to Oklahoma. Those 'moral victories' were against half of last year's playoff field. Not against a mediocre outfit like UNC or Miami.

Yes, the SEC East stinks, but an also ran like UGA defeated the likely champion of the ACC Coastal.

The Vols were a helluva lot better than that crappy Iowa team people here like to prop up.

I saw somewhere that someone said tennesee had 7 players hurt no they have 20 players hurt so get your facts straight.

It was 9 according to the article above and I guessed 7 so sorry but where'd you get 20. OriginalEther no disrespect but saying those comments is rediculous. Winning 11 games in a row isn't easy by anyone. It just proves preseason rankings are meaningless that's all. Did TN rank themselves preseason top 10 no it's the idiot media who talk this crap up all summer based on what happened last year. Look at UCLA they have lost 4 games I think and they were ranked in the top 15. Tell me how many points would Pitt give up to Alabama with 9 starters out? If Pitt were in the SEC East we'd be KY and believe me I root more for Pitt than my alma mater but that's the truth.

What is it with you & TD_nitter; was it your time spent in Tennessee that distorted reality? Every Alabama fan I have talked to views Auburn as public enemy #1.

And aside from the Peyton/T-Martin years, UT is nothing special.

Well, everyone has injuries... bama has them too. Guess what?? Teams win with depth, and whatever you say, Alabama curb stomped them in their home field.

And Saban let up... that score could EASILY been 70-10. He wouldnt have let up on Auburn.

I said that in another post there prez I am not making any excuses TN is over hyped and AL is the best team hands down. I also said Saban pissed off a lot of people calling this the biggest rivalry game for AL especially Auburns fans. I don't expect you to get the intensity of a rivalry you have never paid attention to but why your spouting off about it like you do is beyond me.

you have no idea... I lived in Alabama and in Knoxville. I know it well. And know AU/UA well.
I dont think Tennessee was necessarily over-ranked. I also didnt think they were a great team, but there arent many of those out there this year. Heck, I thought Clemson was going to beat us 60-14 until a few weeks ago, now I think it may be a close game after all.

I was just making the comment that Saban slammed Tennessee, nothing more to read into it except Tennessee just isnt in Alabama's class.

So you can actually come up with a level headed rational post when you try.

Ok then I accept that. I didn't ever claim TN is in Alabama's class who is maybe OSU but I doubt it. I also don't make excuses all teams have injuries to deal with but TN fully healthy wasn't going to beat AL but fully healthy it might have been a few touchdowns closer that's all but if they played 100 times TN might catch them on 5 bad days. There's no doubt AL and Auburn are bigger rivals I think Saban said they look forward to TN more is just to get under the Tiger faithful skins.

Tennessee sucks... they have been overrated all year. VT should have beat them.

Yeah, I suppose if they were on a Mountain West team or something.....
I never realized beating a team like Northwestern gets you a spot in the top 10.
Oh well....

Northwestern was a 10 win team that won games against Stanford (who went on to win the Rose Bowl) Duke, PSU, and Wisconsin. And Tennessee beat them 45-6. Along with 2 wins over UGA, a 21 point win over VA TECH, a 18 point win over Florida. And their 'moral losses' were against 2 playoff teams (one being Alabama) and another top 10 team in TAMU. It wasn't moral victories against the likes of OKST & UNC.

If the Hokies had scored 22 more points, they would have!

You realize our starting QB is a guy they sent to the woodchipper? They have 2 running backs far superior to any of ours. Don't even get into talking about WR's, The only position we have close to their talent is on the OL.

Yeah great insight VT should have beat TN if you play 1 quarter after the first quarter they rolled VT. What world do you live in where a 22 point win should have been a loss? I take no offense to anyone who hates Tennessee I could care less but just saying they suck VT should have beat them is stupid.

Some people act like I am on here promoting how great Tennessee is when in fact my handle was created in 2001 and I am a UT grad but grew up in Pittsburgh and love Pitt. I don't ever post anything about Tennessee on here and never will. I as most of you think Tennessee is over rated this year and while injuries are never excuses I don't care who you are you play without 9 starters you are going to most likely lose let alone against Alabama. why the obsession hating on them it's not like we play them but every 25-30 years

You are beyond delusional. Stop responding to my posts please.

I have been there for the last 2 Pitt games , 1977 and 1980 and it was the best away game trip ever.

Oh well....
UT doesn't/hasn't played Northwestern this season, they just beat the crap out of that 10 win team last year, so...

UT has two losses and they came to the best team in the country and on the road to a legitimate top 10 team, who is likely to end the regular season 10-2 or 11-1. So, UT (or any team) likely going 10-2 with their only losses to two teams who should end the regular season in the top 6, seems to be a pretty darn good resume.

So, if we end the regular season 10-2 with our two losses to far worse teams, are you going to say we are crap and shouldn't be ranked?

Reread my post...it's in reference to Tennessee getting top ten preseason, and seemingly being ranked in the preseason the past few years, despite doing nothing to indicate they are a top ten team. And that includes beating Northwestern, which you and I know that, if Pitt or most other schools were to play them, would be immediately dismissed as no big deal.

If Pitt were to Win out, that would include a win over Clemson, which is a far more impressive victory than anything ut has done recently. But since Pitt doesn't play Rocky Top.....

My God this is a dumb statement.
The game was 14-0 VT and then they had a bunch of turnovers. UT capitalized and VT never recovered. VT had more yardage than UT as well. I am not saying VT should won, but I think that was the point of his post.

That is like saying Tennessee should have beat A&M if not for those 7 pesky turnovers. Despite those 7 they still had a chance but duh a lot of teams would have if they hadn't turned the ball over

Yeah I watched every play but that happens all the time 70 yards wow that's a dominating edge but VT did turn the ball over and TN made them pay so as is the case in most games you turn the ball over that many times you lose. VT just lost to to Syracuse too so let's not act like VT is some top ten team. And just how do you figure they win easily you're logic is those 70 yards they out gained them by equates to them scoring what 2-3 touchdowns. Teams win the yardage stat all the time and lose but you act like those turnovers aren't forced and you just can't ignore stupid mistakes sometimes teams force teams into stupid mistakes.

And I'd bet anything 100 of VT's yards came after they were down 3 TD's so that stat means absolutely nothing

Vt moved the ball better... i think they were a little better but shot themselves in the foot by making too many stupid mistakes.

I understand you are a vols fan....I don't have a dog in the fight, just my unbias observation from watching the game.
